  • Drains iPhone battery, wakes you up in middle of the night with false readings

    By diabone111 (Pcmac user)

I just purchased a new iPhone & was disappointing to discover that this ap causes my battery to drain to 50% when prior to using the ap, the iPhone battery worked for the whole day. Now before the day is over, it runs out of battery power. In addition, the worst thing about it is that if you have to keep your iPhone with you for most of the time. If, for example you have to go somewhere & you forget your phone & you are gone for 30 minutes, you will have to reconnect the sensor. As with most diabetes technology, I wish they would test them out on real people who are relatively intelligent & have been diabetics for a long period of time but, they never do. I can’t wait till I’m eligible for an upgrade & then I may pick the libre. Another thing I don’t like about this phone is that it wakes you up in the middle of the night for FALSE low blood sugar readings or to calibrate. And THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN THE ALARM OFF!!!! Atleast with the libre, you can silence it. With the the app connect, you have to turn the thing off & then if you want to use it again, it has to warm up for 3 hours. The reason why it gives false readings is because it’s not very accurate!!!! I wish I could sue this company & start a new type of sensor but, now I’m stuck with this piece of crap until my insurance allows me to get another one. What a bad play on Medtronic!!!!
  • Ridiculous

    By JustYourAverageTeenager (Pcmac user)

I upgraded my phone from an iPhone 6 (doesn’t update to iOS 13) to the iPhone 11 because I was having system crashes. Well evidently the app doesn’t work with iOS 13 whenever I called about the app not working the lady asked if I called apple and had the most up to date software (obviously I do I purchased my phone yesterday at the apple store) and whenever she finally got in contact with someone else they told her to tell me to call apple back and have them downgrade my software and if I didn’t want to do that to call and order an insulin pump instead. I just got this CGM 4 days ago. I do not have interest in an insulin pump quite frankly if I did it wouldn’t be a Medtronic one. Why is it so difficult to update an app? And yes I asked if there was an update that was coming to work with iOS 13 and she said they don’t have a plan for that at this time and they are trying to work on making the app better but if it works out they have no idea when it is going to be out.
  • More than a little disappointed

    By lubberry (Pcmac user)

Just switched from a Tandem T-slim with a Dexcom G6 to the 670g trying to get the best technology to manage my Type 1 Diabetes. I am pretty disheartened to learn that although the the app sensor connected fine to the pump, it will not connect to the app due to what appears to be lack of updating to work with the newer iOS systems. This is a downfall on Medtronic’s part, as one of the best parts of the Dexcom G6 system is I could use the app to share my blood glucose levels with family to better keep myself safe when I was off on my own or with those who do not really know the severity of my situation. This really makes the new switch to the Medtronic system a bit uneasy due to this downfall of the app.
  • Alarms are all set at maximum volume

    By Ron3884 (Pcmac user)

System works great to manage my diabetes my only complaint is the alert volumes are not controllable and are set for maximum volume. It’s very annoying to be listening to music or even a quiet moment in a movie and get blasted with a alert. I forgot to mention when the alert goes off at maximum volume it also changes the volume of whatever you were doing (music, movie...) to maximum volume for a few seconds too. Also it does not work with CarPlay, which I would consider a very smart feature to have.
