Mirror for Pc

We’ve tried various hardware methods to this app my laptop to our television, but most of them tied me down close to the TV. With this app for Roku, I can sit where I can clearly see the television while mirroring my screen. This has come in quite handy for our homeschool humanities discussions (computer notes are much easier to share with everyone than taking pictures of the whiteboard and sending them out) and for working on French and logic with my daughters. Instead of crowding around a computer screen, we’re able to be more comfortable and we can all see clearly. It also includes audio, which is much easier to hear from our television’s speakers than from my computer speaker (essential for learning to speak another language!). It’s not perfect (nothing in this life is), but it does the job we need it to do and at a much lower cost than hardware solutions.

When I purchased my Roku, I did so with the assumption that mirroring my Mac screen was going to be one of the things it just did. I was disappointed to find out it didn’t, almost to the point of wanting to return and buy something else. But I did a little research and found this app. Once you also download the audio drivers to be able to stream audio through the tv, this app is a Godsend. I watched an entire movie last night via the Starz site on my TV, which I’ve never been able to do before, and it was crystal clear in video and audio quality. The slight lag between computer and TV display could be a little annoying if you were trying to use it to give a presentation or something, but the fact is it works perfectly for what I need it for, and i couldn’t be happier!

Bought this app because I didn’t want to have to go through the hassle of finding and purchasing a cord for my MacBook Pro as they’re usually overpriced imo. I just want to be able to stream sports games and movies from my MacBook onto my insignia TV. At first it seemed like this would be a really easy solution. But within 30 minutes of testing out a bunch of different media that I’d be using I found many problems. 
First, the video quality worsens from the computer to the TV. I noticed that the picture on the TV would often have little skips. That’s not going to be ideal for good movie watching. And I’d hate to miss a touchdown pass because of that. Second, I tried to play a movie that I bought off of iTunes and it wouldn’t play and gave me this message: “This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection).” No way around that really other than using a cable I guess. These problems I could have easily avoided if the trial version was longer and I had more time to look into this stuff. But now I’m writing this 2 star review which of course hurts this apps chance of being purchased. I tried to get a refund by contacting them but they told me I have to do it through Apple, I tried through Apple and Apple told me I have to do it through the App company.

This ap is great only because it is the only option that I am aware of that allows users to stream content from their computer to the TV screen. There is a few second delay for buffering which wouldn’t be an issue if the TV had blue tooth capability for headphone use. In the current configuration, if you use bluetooth connected headsets with your computer, the buffered image on the TV is out of sync by about 10 seconds or so. The app crashes once in a while but generally works well.
