UPDATE: (July 25, 2019). I do enjoy this game and I like the new weekly tournament. The thing I don’t think is right and totally unfair is at the pay out when you state that “Tied players split the reward”. Why should they have to split it versus each receiving that amount? Think about it this way. First player has 100 points and second player has 99. They would both get their points. But if they tie at 100 they only get 50??? This weekly tournament is more easily attainable than the old tournament and coins are never very high but to make the tie be split is selfish on the developers part. UPDATE: (April 12, 2018). Now I can never seem to earn more coins because the ads to earn 5 coins is always “unavailable - try again later” This happens more frequently than not. STILL VERY DISAPPOINTING. Keeping the rating to one star. We have to watch ads to earn coins -You need to get better updates to earn a 5 star rating!!!!! (From October 5, 2018). I really enjoy this game. It's one of my favorites. However I didn't like the fact that when signed up for a survey to earn more coins (something like 40) and after spending over 25 minutes answering a lot of questions (many repeat questions too) I was only given 7 coins. VERY DISAPPOINTING!! I will never purchase coins. I am ok with watching ads so if you want a 5 star rating then give me the coins I earned for participating in the surveys.

I play this pretty much every day and I really enjoy it. The puzzles are pretty simple and I feel like I am exercising my mind. There are some rewards for various goals, like some of the rewards offered for solving puzzles on a regular basis, that make it even more fun, because who doesn't enjoy a challenge? That is what helps draw people to the game, right? However, some of those goals are pretty hard to earn. If the rewards are not worth the effort, or if they are too out of reach, the added draw no longer a draw. There are some reasonable options on earning coins if you don't want to pay for the game. It is more expensive to play this game than buying a magazine of puzzles in the store, and both of those options have their own benefits. If I were designing this game I would work toward getting more people to play by keeping the cost to play down so more people want to pick it up and play it. The fact that it's an offshoot of Words with Friends only makes this app more enticing. I hope the creators keep up the good work!

The puzzles are fun and challenging. The only complaint that I have is when you go to “watch videos” for extra coins, I continuously receive error messages that there aren’t any videos to watch. This is long before you receive the “reach your limit” message. I wish that they would fix that because it’s extremely irritating! They also have these ads which have lasted at least 5-minutes and you can’t skip it because then the app locks and you don’t receive any credit. If any of these ads last longer than a minute, you ought to at least 10 credits instead of the insulting 5 credits! What else is irritating, is writing down a nickname that they want to use before sending a review. Another thing that is irritating is NOT receiving the credits after you watch these ads! However, you have to pick one that hasn’t been used!!! You know how many people use this App?!! This is ridiculous!!! It’s been over 3 months and guess what, the issues still aren’t fixed! With one exception, haven’t seen anymore of those infomercials.

I have played Celebrity Crossword for years, but when I had to switch over to this game, it was like starting all over again. In some ways that was ok, because I got many coins in the beginning. But now even though it says in my stats I have played this 61 days in a row, I didn’t get the coins for playing any of the consecutive days. I agree with someone who was not happy about the hints eating up coins. I hit one by accident, but made no mistakes so didn’t realize it. The next few days I also made no mistakes. It wasn’t until 4 days of losing coins each day, I made a mistake and then noticed it was on, and that my coin numbers were way down. It would also be good to be more realistic about the tournaments. How can anyone with a life ever win? The top winners, unless I am not understanding something, has to be playing 100s of games in a week!! I guess in this case the old adage that “you have to spend money to get money”, is true. The most stars you can get in a week is 21, so people in the top leader board with hundreds of stars are spending lots of coins to get lots of coins. One week I figured the leader had to play at least 30 puzzles a day!! But, the clues are fun and just challenging enough to not get boring. I enjoy the bonus puzzles and the chance to win badges ( those are realistic). I do recommend this app to crossword puzzle fans. Unless you are an avid NYTd puzzle solver. Then this is way too easy.
