Software Features and Description

1. In collaboration with the Radian Institute and advised by researchers from Mayo Clinic, Soundly is conducting a research study on the benefits of gamified myofunctional therapy to reduce snoring and sleep apnea.

2. Myofunctional therapy is comprised of exercises for the upper airway muscles that have been shown in studies to reduce snoring and sleep apnea.

3. The Soundly is based on myofunctional therapy, a physical therapy that strengthens and tones your upper airway, thus reducing the tissue vibrations that cause snoring.

4. Clinical research has shown that myofunctional therapy can also reduce the collapse of the upper air that causes sleep apnea and reduce AHI by more than 50%.

5. The Soundly Therapy was developed at the University of Minnesota’s Medical Devices Center in collaboration with the Fairview Sleep Center.

6. The Soundly Therapy is based on the latest myofunctional therapy and behavioral change research.

7. From 2020 to 2022 Soundly was used in a research study by Mayo Clinic and provided to patients with mild sleep apnea.

8. You can think of Soundly as physical therapy for your upper airway.

9. Soundly is a fun and effective way to reduce your snoring without wearing uncomfortable devices during sleep.

10. Soundly strengthens and tones your upper airway through a series of key vocalization exercises.

11. The goal of this study is to better understand who responds to myofunctional therapy and why.

  • Boring or snoring?

    By Elkhornkate (Pcmac user)

Update: tried going to the website to contact them about my gripes. Got a return email saying someone would be in touch soon. It’s been two weeks now. Nada. Meanwhile, here’s a pro tip: don’t even try to win until you get to the fourth or fifth level of each different world. It’s pointless; just say knee-naw knee-naw knee-naw over and over again and build up your knee-naws. Stupidest game ever. Hope I’m not wasting my time and money here. No results yet. Progress tracking is also minimal to nonexistent. This process is terminally boring. The game is mind-numbing. It is not fun. It may work to reduce apnea or snoring but you’d think intelligent people could come up with something less stupid for a sound activated game. I’m doing it because there aren’t many options out there but fun this is not. And zero options for variety. This game might entertain a six year old but most apnea sufferers are middle aged or older. I’ll give it two months. If it helps and they haven’t come up with something more interesting by then I’ll set my own timer and knee-naw on my own. Come on people. You’ve got a good idea here. Do something with it.
  • The game itself is Absolute garbage..I hate this app

    By cygeis (Pcmac user)

The idea of working out your tongue and throat is great and seems to be working. I am not snoring near as much as I was. But the game itself is garbage. The characters only respond to naw or ahhhh, but not to knee. It does better with HHEEE...or neeet, or needin...but even then will lock up and just not move. It’s very frustrating not to ever be able to get past level 1. And I am exaggerating the knee. And my family sure knows I’m saying knee cuz they hear me all over the house. I’m giving a 2 because it is helping but the game doesn’t work and deserves a zero.
  • Fun app, has great potential

    By CA-Claire (Pcmac user)

I downloaded this, to see if it would help Siri, and Tina ToyotaEntune, since neither one understands me very well. Although I have severe sleep apnea, I have never snored. I was only able to use this app for 3 days. It is deceptive advertising to say this is a free app with “in app purchases”. In order to use it for more than 3 days, you have to pay $9.99/month or $99/year. I gave 2 stars that would have been 4 stars, if this had truly been a free app. You get a demonstration for 3 days before purchase is more accurate.
  • Really works

    By punpernick (Pcmac user)

This app greatly reduced my snoring, to the point where it no longer bothers my spouse. I have found that I have to keep using it to avoid lapsing back into my old habits - a fact that, while annoying, provides further evidence of its efficacy. I also suspect that it reduces my (mild) sleep apnea, improving quality of sleep and mental acuity. Quite amazing...
