  • Can’t wait to have my life back!!

    By STW1974 (Pcmac user)

This is my 3rd implant of this DCS, I was the first person in my community years ago to have the implant years ago and after I had it my life changed dramatically I went back to work after being out for years!! I was loving finally having my life back and my pain under control. Well that was Medtronics, if course my doctor was approached to use a different system by St. Jude’s and he decided he wanted to replace the perfectly good system I had that was working. I said ok and after he did that it worked pretty good for a couple years with a few mishaps they had to reprogram me a few times. Then all of a sudden my system stopped working. And for about 3 years I was in awful pain. My dr came to me saying they came out with a rechargeable system so much better than the one I’m used to. Well I said ok and I’m a little over a month out of surgery and so far so good there is a new burst feature where you don’t feel the stimulation it’s perfect and doing this on an iPod genius just wish I could download the app on my iPhone.
  • St Jude paddle type neurostimulator

    By 1995JEEP (Pcmac user)

I was previously on what I call the 1 wire system and surgery for placement was easy even having to be awake to test placement on the nerves in my spine and worked great for years. Watery infection at the generator site required removal of complete system after a few yrs. After my pocket for the generator finally closed up, my spinal canal narrowed and I now have the the paddle version . No complaints and still works as my other did but required a bit more surgery to remove arthritic growth to put the implant in place. Recovery a bit longer but it delivers the stimulation in my back and legs. The controller has a software glitch but St Jude monitors closely . My previous 2 implants were Medtronics. Worked well but after a battery replacement , the stimulation was a little off what I was used to. .
  • Very Weak Connection to Generator

By Pain w/o Gain (Pcmac user)

This is my second SCS. I previously had a Medtronic generator that worked very well with no complaints for over seven years. With advances in technology, I had high hopes for this device, but the interface is poor. I’ve had the new device about 10 months. The iPod controller must be placed next to the skin right over the generator in order to make a connection. Even then, one may have to try it multiple times in order to make the connection to deal with your pain. Once connected, it usually works as designed and you can make changes to the programs to target your pain. But sometimes the connection to the generator is so poor that the SCS won’t turn on or change programs. On the positive side, the technicians are very helpful and knowledgeable. If only the patients were able to get their powerful controllers or to get the software for iPads and iPhones.
  • Love that’s it works on iOS but sad too

    By cordy marchione (Pcmac user)

I loved the idea that I could use the app on my phone until I realized it won’t work on anything newer than iOS 12.4. Our phones are up to 13.2. Thank goodness I didn’t update the iPod. Please try and work that out. It would be convenient to only have to carry my phone instead of my phone and the iPod. Extra weight in my pocketbook isn’t good for the back pain the stimulator is supposed to be helping with.
