Great app but Sparkly needs more long term prizes!!
By AnonymousMomReview (Pcmac user)
My kids (7 and 4) love this app! It keeps them excited to brush every day. I’d love to see an update for Sparkly though. My kids love his tricks (flipping, burping, repeating what you say, etc), and all the different backgrounds. As the parent, I love that you have to earn some of these over multiple consistent brushings. My kids have earned all the long term prizes already and the daily prizes (clothes, food, spray, etc) aren’t as motivating. I’d love to see more long term prizes for the kids to work toward. Sparkly is a brilliant idea that needs just needs a little sprucing up!!

Great idea, execution not so much
By Meglette14 (Pcmac user)
At first, my daughter loved this, but the execution of this app is really flawed. There needs to be a lot more that is flexible. First of all, there is so much feedback here about the prizes. So much food. At first, it’s fun. My my child could not care less after the 400th time she’s gotten a food item when she’s only gotten spray paint like 5 times. Why not ADD MORE SPRAY PAINT?!?! She’s got 700 pairs of star glasses and kitty ears. This makes no sense. She can’t change her Sparkly, which she named “Purple” back to purple because we can’t get anymore purple spray paint. The process to give her credit for brushing when my phone isn’t at home with her and she can’t use the app is lengthy and a pain and should be easy. It’d be great if parents could pick a special reward to give the child or a prize they know they’d want, like the spray paint to help keep them motivated on days that brushing is a challenge. This app could be great if the developers would take some of this feedback and put it to work.

Good in theory
By MelissaTortorella (Pcmac user)
If this app worked, it would be great. My 4yo daughter loves it but is disappointed on a regular basis bc the only prizes she gets is food. She rarely ever gets the spray paint, which like another reviewer said, is the most valuable prize. Also like the other reviewer said, the parenting dashboard does not allow the parents to give credit for kids brushing without using the app. My daughter is gone every other weekend, and I know she is brushing her teeth, but I cannot give her credit where credit is due. Also she doesn’t always want to use the app because the prices are boring so she brushes her teeth without using the app, and I still can’t give her credit. This app seriously needs fixing. It would be great in theory if it actually worked. I can also see that reviewer‘s have been complaining about the same thing for a long time now, and nothing has been fixed. So it doesn’t seem to me like the company cares much about the reviewer‘s comments.

Kid’s perspective
By Ollie103017 (Pcmac user)
This app teaches how long to brush your teeth in a certain area... for instance a visual picture. After you are done with your brushing, you get a prize, sometimes it is clothing items or food, backgrounds or spray paint. For the first few days, I was really excited, then, as there were less and less rewards, I wasn’t excited to brush... I felt it was a waste of battery to go on my phone and use the app to brush my teeth. Especially in the morning and I am running late. Also as my food pantry got more and more full, I got annoyed because I have so much food that my sparkly won’t eat and almost every time I get food. I just feel like there should be a trash can... maybe make a blending machine. I was just expecting more when I started the app.
