Read to Learn is a comprehensive language arts curriculum for transition-age students. Contemporary themes engage users in independent study for hours. The Read to Learn Book Library is a set of eight life skill titles includes eight books and eight corresponding talking software programs. Each title is heavily illustrated with photos or graphic-novel style drawings. The age-appropriate, simplified text is presented in short-story format. Stories feature practical life skill themes, controlled vocabulary, and end-of-chapter comprehension exercises. This curriculum is great for independent reading or as optional read-along activities. You also get a PDF file of each title to print out individual student copies and work pages for class participation. The Read to Learn Software Bundle incorporates Attainment’s eReader software, with many excellent features for students and teachers alike. It reads the stories aloud to students with professional narration. Text is highlighted by word, by line, or by complete sentence. Students can also click on any individual word to hear it read. Graphics are plentiful, contemporary, and age-appropriate. A test at the end of each story provides speech support plus an optional hint feature that directs students to the page that addresses each question. A unified management system helps quickly review or print out student performance data for multiple users, determines reading lists, and sets options that best suit each student’s learning style. Choose word-by-word or natural speech narration, select text highlighting style, and assign tests. Comprehension exercises with an optional hint feature assess the reader's understanding of each story. Test results are stored and can be printed. Read to Learn has an optional automatic page reading and turning feature , plus it scans and accommodates one or two switches users.
