Bamboo Learning is an innovative app offering a delightful collection of books with thousands of voice-enabled, self-paced listening and reading comprehension activities for children in grades K through 5 on iPad and iPhone. Children embark on personalized learning adventures, listening to narrated fiction and nonfiction books and answering fun comprehension questions along the way. These comprehension activities are engaging, confidence-building, and help boost active listening, vocabulary, narrative, and other foundational language skills. They’ll learn fascinating facts about rescuing box turtles, Ellie Mannette creating the steel drum, a Hindu “nine nights” festival, Casper Mamutse making sandals from old tires to help children in Zimbabwe walk to school, and Bessie Coleman’s first flight. They’ll be mesmerized by folktales from Peru, China, India, and other cultures. Bamboo Learning is perfect for learning at home. The app is intuitive and very easy to navigate; children can use it independently, without requiring assistance from parents or caregivers. Designed by experts in literacy and elementary education, the app reinforces academic knowledge and skills children are acquiring at school, thus bridging the classroom and home. Parents or caregivers select fun animal avatars and a grade level while setting up the children’s profiles (up to 6 profiles per family). Bamboo Learning’s Panda welcomes children to the app and guides them through thousands of listening and reading comprehension activities. The Panda character offers praise and awards tokens for correct answers, gently nudges children to try again in case of incorrect answers, and suggests hints to help arrive at the correct answer. Engaging sound effects accompany praise, tokens, and hints.
