1. Some of these bright flashes are a result of cosmic rays, so anyone can detect cosmic rays with the camera in their phone.

2. Cosmic Ray App is a new iOS application that allows users to detect cosmic rays from outer space with nothing but their phone.

3. The application works by detecting bright spots in the phone's camera when no light is entering.

4. A dedicated slider is recommended for blocking the camera, but electrical tape will also work.
