This is yet another disappointing piece of evidence that MONEY is all that motivates Cook’s Apple
THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A PROUCT THAT ALLOWS US TO ADMINISTER OUR COMPUTERS, OR THE COMPUTERS WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR, FROM ONE LOCATION WITHOUT HAVING TO PHYSICALLY CONNECT TO THE MACHINE WITH OUR HANDS. COOK’S App HAS MISERABLY FAILED AT THIS ONCE ELEGANT FUNCTION, THIS ONCE WORKING FUNCTION.
I have absoultely every system with the same build, and the same version of the OS AND ARD and NOTHING is conistent. Reboots give me “screen sharing avialable,” on half the systems, but it’s never the same half.
I have to echo the experiences and sentiments of everyone else here:
* Authentication issues
* Task Server Not Working or inexplicably failing
* IP issues not registering within ARD correctly
* BONJOUR not even giving correct information
I have been telling App for several years that once they lose the professional artists, the real nerds (programmers and engineers), once they’ve alienated all the teachers and students, once they’ve dongled their extortive greed to death, we aren’t coming back. How many times do I have to re-buy an app on my phone, iPad, computer? There is no incentive to fix such issues, “JUST UPGRADE!” App keeps making money whether you buy the software title for the third or fourth time, or whether or not you upgrade the hardware (requiring yet more software purchases). And that in-app purchase nonsense? If you’re a developer, know that I won’t even download your app when I see that.
There aren’t expletives strong enough to curse Cook’s App strongly enough to recover the weeks I’ve lost because I made the mistake of updating a single piece of software that hosed my entire network. And the “upgrade?” Absolute garbage. If I wanted this kind of grief I’d use Windows Vista. I wish I had stayed at El Capitan.
App: We didn’t give you all that money because of your bloated ego, we gave you all that money because we could trust that the products you put in our hands ACTUALLY worked, and that they ACTUALLY worked every time. I gave you all that money over the years because I believed you had a higher standard of conduct, and that you operated with ethics and integrity. I was paying to do business with your honor, not the stuff your greed makes continuously less usable, and infinitely less functional.
My network is VERY small, I can’t even imagine what someone with a thousand machines must feel like.
I have been porting my Logic productions OUT of Logic. Twenty plus years. Once I’m done I’m never coming back. You can’t abuse and exploit everyone forever. And Cook’s App does just that. The vendors, the contractors, the authorized repair services, the employees, and especially the customers.
I’ll be shocked if this review is ever seen by more than just the App employee in control of the censorship. Every other review I’ve done over the past year is simply non-existent. When I check on them, the review still exists, as written, but it doesn’t show up in my profile, or on the site.
Greed is the worst customer experience ever Tim Cook. And though it may not cost you today, the trust you’re spending, the trust you’re BURNING like a refinery fire, will come back to haunt App. Maybe not while you’re there, because like all “leaders,” you’ll use it up, burn it down, and run for the mansion in the hills before the real costs are actually in your lap. Our communities will clean up your “eco friendly,” e-waste, your employees will carry the weight of your millions of dollars of pocketed profit, what should be their wages, our teachers will keep buying supplies your sheltered and t-buddy tax breaks aren’t covering…
App could be paying their employees more, I’d be okay with that. They charge a premium and they have the resources to ensure that even the janitor at App can afford to BUY a house (doesn’t have to be extravagant) WHERE they work. App could be THE leader in changing the country for the better. But greed is in the way.
App could be charging less for the products and services they offer. I’d be okay with that (most of us would). Yeah that makes us customers (consumers) complicit in the exploitation of their manufacturing system, but I’m going to guess most of the world cares less about our fellow than they do about their memoji filter. Imagine if App were to produce a computer that was only twice what the equivalent PC cost (instead of five times the price). Imagine how many MORE people would have an iPhone if App dropped the price by 30%. They wouldn’t have to do anything ethical, like pay their staff, or apply US standards to manufacturing employment, and they WOULD STILL MAKE A RIDICULOUS PROFIT.
App could be paying full shot, no breaks, taxes, (and not even break a sweat). I’d be okay with that too. They could have moved all their sheltered taxes without the big fat shady bonus they got for doing what they should have done in the first place. Companies like App, Amazon, Facebook, Netflix, they all use the infrastructure WE pay for with TAXES. But right now, ALL that money people continue to pour into App only seems to be going into a black hole. Shoddy software, overpriced hardware, ridiculously boring devices that are just another day of the same “rewarmed leftovers,” that there isn’t even excitement about their release anymore. Make something we want App. Make something that “just works,” again. Make a pro laptop that has ports, the mag-safe, and RAM and storage I can upgrade. Make a computer that makes my 2012 obsolete without crippling the new one, or doing some shady software magic to cripple the old one.
Please?
Maybe stop thinking all the world has a Cook level income, or access to the resources unchecked corruption affords certain affiliates. There are rumors that Cook used to have a different last name. Perhaps App is our era’s Volkswagen. If they can comply with China’s rules and demands for access to every person’s data… Save your money, you’re going to have to roll your own anyway. Get a *nix box!
