2. NOAA’s Office of Ocean Exploration and Research is the only federal organization currently dedicated to exploring our unknown ocean.

3. Even as the importance of deep areas of the ocean in our everyday lives continues to increase, most of our knowledge of the ocean lies in shallower waters.

4. Our deep-ocean knowledge remains limited and, in many instances, we are left “flying blind” when it comes to areas such as management, regulation, and resource use in deep-water areas.

5. Join scientists from around the world as they explore the deepest, darkest reaches of our planet’s last unknown frontier.

6. This app allows you to stream video live from our remotely operated vehicle on the seafloor (at depths of up to 6,000 meters or 3.7 miles) directly to your mobile device.

7. The app also provides information on the location of NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer and updates about our dives.

8. Follow along with our live dive coverage or learn more about our research.

9. Hear them discuss their findings and watch as true discoveries unfold.
