1. Special advantages of the MPI-2 are: its development by expert clinical researchers as a complete evidence-based treatment program – including establishment, transfer and maintenance of fluent speech, and its portability –which facilitates a significant role for the client in managing the treatment and the ability to practice newly learned speech patterns away from the clinic setting while being monitored by the software and/or the clinician.

2. In order to start the treatment program, the potential client needs to install the MPI-2 Stuttering Treatment Program application first on an iPhone or iPad, and then choose a clinician (via the “Find Clinician” button on the home screen).

3. The Modifying Phonation Intervals (MPI-2) Stuttering Treatment Program is designed to teach mainly adolescents and adults who stutter to achieve generalized stutter-free and normal sounding speech by speaking with a reduced number of short intervals of phonation (PI=phonation interval).

4. The MPI-2 Session Recorder application is a specialized tool designed to record videos and send them to one’s clinician during the MPI-2 Treatment Program speaking tasks.

5. This is a companion application to the MPIi-2 Treatment Program (at no extra cost) and must be installed on an iPad or iPhone separate from the one that will be used by the client during MPI-2 treatment.

6. The program is a performance-contingent, biofeedback system that employs software (iOS MPI-2 application) and hardware (iPad, iPad Mini, or iPhone and a throat microphone/accelerometer with single earpiece assembly).

7. All MPI-2 clinicians have earned master’s degrees as speech-language pathologists and the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and are also certified as MPI-2 clinicians.

8. After the request has been received, the clinician will contact you to evaluate your condition and discussion additional details, including the cost of the clinician’s clinical services.

9. Targeted PIs are recorded from the surface of the speaker’s throat and their occurrence is automatically fed back to the speaker during treatment.
