What is Satellite Pointer? Satellite Pointer is an app that helps users install their television dish easily. It uses augmented reality to show geostationary satellites orbiting around the earth and provides information necessary for installation, such as geographical zone, longitude, available band frequencies, azimuth, elevation, and polarization angles. The app has a database of more than 200 satellites and a search option to quickly find the satellite of interest. The PRO version of the app offers additional features such as a weekly updated database, the ability to add satellites manually, and a four-step alignment tool to set up the TV antenna easily.

Software Features and Description

1. Once a satellite has been selected, you will be able to read a number of information necessary to your installation, such as its geographical zone, its longitude, the available band frequencies, its azimuth, elevation and polarization angles as calculated based on your location.

2. You may then select such satellite in dish aligning mode (only available in PRO version): you will be provided with a four steps alignment tool that will help you install your TV antenna easily.

3. Direct your device to the sky and look in realty augmented mode at the geostationary satellites orbiting around the earth.

We travel in an RV and always looking for a spot to set up the dish. I have tried several apps and this is the easiest most accurate I’ve found. The ability to have a the app favorite list is so handy. With the use of the phone screen view you get a clear picture of where the satellites are in the sky and possible obstructions is great.

I decided to take this app for a spin and I ended up astound learning how easy they made it for us to install/fine tune the app dishes. After I followed the easy to follow instructions I was able to gain 40% overall more quality tv signal than the TV guys who came to install the tv dish at first. Please keep up the good and creative work guys.
Disappointed with pro

Thought the free version was great in showing ar view of satellites. Decided to buy the pro version to help align dish. Wish I hadn’t. Liked that I could select what satellites to show in ar view. But when I selected Ciel 2 the app and tried align dish and locate, the the app was not in the same location that it had been in ar view. Using the settings in azimuth and elevation did not give me connection to the the app. Would recommend using the free app and a cheap the app finder rather than paying for the pro version.

My dad and I used this app for the first time on a RV trip this past week to Grayland Beach, WA. Worked great! We downloaded the app, looked for three satellites all having the same orientation, degrees- used the compass to line up our Dish TV receiver dish and....viola’! TV! And this was in an area where even our cellphones or laptop couldn’t get the internet. VERY satisfied.
