  • Appreciate access to all the publications

    By 1Paleo (Pcmac user)

I’m so happy to have discovered this app with easily transportable publications. One issue I have is with the audio. I like the ability to listen and read at the same time but it could use some improvements. I would like to be able to move forward and back within a chapter without having to start the chapter over again. Also, it would be great to be able to keep my place. If it has been several days since my last session, I can’t always remember what chapter I was listening to. It could use some modernization of narrators and music. The music and introduction to the chapters sounds like it comes from the 1930s and makes me feel talked down to. No music would be fine and a respectful, conversational tone of voice for the introduction to chapters would help. The main narrator mispronounces words - such as pronouncing the silent 2nd a in pharaoh as a long a. When it’s a word that is used over and over again, it makes the listener cringe. I’m sure this would be a huge undertaking to make these changes so let me say again, I really do appreciate your making an app with these publications.
  • Great, but could use a couple improvements.

    By lladnekj (Pcmac user)

Overall it’s a pretty good App! But after only a few minutes if use I thought of some things that would make it so much better! First, would be continuous scrolling. I’m sure that this may not suite everyone, but at least having the option to choose between continuous scrolling and page-by-page scrolling would keep everyone happy. Second, would be the ability to speed up the playback of the audio books. The reading is quite slow, which is good for some people, however, I think the reading is slow enough that speeding up to at least 2x speed would would still be easy to keep up with. If an option to speed up playback were added, having a few different speed options (1.25x, 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, maybe even 3x for the brave) would be ideal. Third, would be some kind of predictive search function. Kind of like how google will say, “did you mean...” This would be useful for times when you can’t quite remember the exact wording of a quote, but know the general idea. I realize that this idea would likely be quite difficult to implement, but it would be an amazing feature. Maybe some of these options are already somewhere in settings, but I have not been able to find them yet. So, if they are there, maybe make them easier to find. Thanks for the good work so far! This app definitely beats the old CDs. Having the entire searchable library in my pocket is very handy!
  • Bugs/The missing feature list

    By randomuser4102 (Pcmac user)

Bugs/The missing feature list: - [important!!!] search should not automatically navigate to the first result until a search result is selected as it does still in app version 5.0.1. Just by doing a search you can lose the spot you were reading for a search result that may not even be relevant to what you were searching for. If Google used this behavior it would be like doing a google search and having Google automatically open the the website in the number one position for every search even if you accidentally typed something that was a completely accidental and embarrassing, etc. Not a good idea. - in the old way back version, there used to be tabs so you could have more than one reference open at once. Without tabs like this it’s very cumbersome to do comparisons between two locations! - when scrolling vertically down the page the scrolling is not smooth but laggy and jerky. - the original old app had publisher info for each book at the beginning but is not here now so there’s no way to tell what year a book was published. Very useful if you want to know if it was published while the app was still alive and capable of reviewing it. - when I migrated to version 5.0.0 the word titles to all my bookmarks got erased (don’t know if the migration tool was fixed in 5.0.1 but those title are still not restored.)
  • Comprehensive, cloud sync could use work

    By BriFriVG (Pcmac user)

What I like best is the immense library of resources you can access. Layout even works well for reading. However, i had to reinstall the app once because it kept logging me out of cloud sync, then I would loose access to my entire library until i logged in again, even though all my books had been downloaded to my device for offline reading. After re-install, now I can read offline, but thats seldom necessary, because I am not routinely logged off like before. Now its been replaced by glitches when downloading new items beyond what I downloaded originally. The fact that i was essentially forced to use the new, less reliable cloud sync function makes the glitches worse.
