Grim Tales for Pc

This looked at the start to be a great game. I love this series...a little crazy, a little cutting edge, there's always a bit of drama with the Gray family stories. And always a few innovative touches. And yet...this one...dare I say that it was Too much too much. Dial down the drama, the scene movements, the evil, the amount of things to do and look for everywhere and maybe focus a little more on creating a story with a logical plot line so I don't have to use the map every time I find something. Yeesh. And all of that OTT-ness took me out of the story, so I almost became rather jaded with the monstrous plot.😱😳😲😖😁 (that's a time lapse of my emotions during this game) So --- 5 stars for graphics and cut scenes and innovation and voice overs and teleporting maps and good hits and all the things that are so so right. And 1 star for the devs just not knowing when to quit. In total -- 3 stars. Worth the $5? Not sure. I paid it before it got so darn tiring -- I had to take a break and I'm sure I'll go back, but I need to rest and get my mojo back before heading back into that world. Personal note: hi and hello to all my fellow reviewers. Got my lab scans back and the doc said "no evidence of active disease" so hopefully I'm on my way to remission and cancer is a thing of the past. Thanks so much for all your good wishes. xoxo

This gorgeous game is an Elephant game, and they did their usual great job! Fans of the this app series will recognize the Grey family but this is also - like the rest of the series - a stand alone game and plays well even if you don't know the back story. Do keep in mind that each scene is larger than the view on your iPad. The arrows at the top of the screen are so you can "turn your head" and get a fresh perspective. For example the opening scene by the fountain- right top arrow and you see the whole fountain and mermaid statue. Keep your eyes open for morphing objects and strange critters.

Color of Fright brought a new twist to the HO puzzle genre. Overall, this game ran well, the storyline was good, and the different type of HOs and puzzles kept you interested. Some of the scenes are panoramic so move left or right to see other areas to investigate. Selecting some objects isn't so precise; some of the first puzzles, when trying to combine parts such as the wolf cub with its mother, had items that were difficult to select, some were selected when pressing next to the item rather than on it. Connecting the dots on the owl puzzle was exasperating. You need to touch both the "from" and the "to" dots to connect them, figured that out on the next one.

So I recently got into the adventures of the Grey family, but I knew I was missing references to past adventures. This one doesn't cover all the details, but provides enough to understand the nuances of the plots later on. A good jumping on point for people who don't want to go back all the way to game one to learn the details and stories in my opinion. A little glitchy, and connect the dots wasn't easy to figure out with the paintings, but overall solid game.
