If you want to install and use the Darkroom – Photo Editor app on your PC or Mac, you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We have worked diligently to help you understand how to use Darkroom – Photo Editor for your computer in 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac

Ok. First things first. If you want to use the application on your computer, first visit the Mac store or Windows AppStore and search for either the Bluestacks app or the Nox App . Most of the tutorials on the web recommends the Bluestacks app and I might be tempted to recommend it too, because you are more likely to easily find solutions online if you have trouble using the Bluestacks application on your computer. You can download the Bluestacks Pc or Mac software here

Step 2: Install the emulator on your PC or Mac

Now that you have downloaded the emulator of your choice, go to the Downloads folder on your computer to locate the emulator or Bluestacks application.
Once you have found it, click it to install the application or exe on your PC or Mac computer.
Now click Next to accept the license agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application properly.
If you do the above correctly, the Emulator app will be successfully installed.

Step 3: Darkroom – Photo Editor for PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and look for its search bar. Once you found it, type Darkroom – Photo Editor in the search bar and press Search. Click on Darkroom – Photo Editor application icon. A window of Darkroom – Photo Editor on the Play Store or the app store will open and it will display the Store in your emulator application. Now, press the Install button and like on an iPhone or Android device, your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
You will see an icon called "All Apps".
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the Darkroom – Photo Editor icon. Click on it and start using the application.

Step 4: Darkroom – Photo Editor for Mac OS

Hi. Mac user!
The steps to use Darkroom – Photo Editor for Mac are exactly like the ones for Windows OS above. All you need to do is install the Nox Application Emulator or Bluestack on your Macintosh. The links are provided in step one

Not the most intuitive means of restoring previous purchases but FINALLY found the settings menu and now all is well. 3 stars because this should also be a full resolution iPad app. Take care of that and this review goes to 5 stars. After the developer responded to my 3 star review saying “Apple doesn’t make it very easy for us to restore purchases……”, I have to add that this has never been case with other Apps – in this case it was a matter of finding the settings to be able to do this. My feelings are that developers need to standardize on the look and position of the settings gear! I upped my review by a star as they noted they were working on an iPad version, even though I feel it should have been developed for that in the first place. If this happens, I’ll make it a 5 star review.
  • Excellent App!

I recently discovered the Darkroom App. I immediately purchased full functionality. For years, I have made “social media” posts by editing JPG files with less than ideal image quality. Frustration finally led me to search for a better option than the stock Nikon wireless mobile utility and Apple Photos on my iPhone. That’s how I came across Darkroom (and ShutterSnitch by a different developer which allows me to download RAW files in bulk off of my Nikon camera). This combination is incredible; I only wish I would have discovered it earlier. Note to developers: I just sent an email to you with a couple of suggestions that might make your 5 star app even better 😊
  • Great App, Developers work hard to keep it that way

Edit: Thank you darkroom! You fixed the problem that I mentioned in this review, glad to see that you are trying to make a great product. I added a star, cause I really do love this app, but have run into a new issue that is almost as annoying as the first. My edits do not remain on photos when I modify the original. I’ve gone back in multiple times and modified a photo, exported it to modify the original. But once I close the app it goes back to its original state. Will be glad once this is fixed! I really do love this App, makes editing a snap. The color controls are a game changer for me when it comes to editing on my phone. The one issue I have with the app, and keeping it from 5 stars is the that in the library, where I can select which photos to edit, it gets the photo is displays is different than the photo that comes up when I select it. This makes it hard to edit photos cause I’m not sure where the photo I want to edit is, I’ll find it, click on it and it’s a different photo. Fix this issue and I think it’s a 5 Star app
  • Overall quite good

Coming from desktop raw workflow, I knew I need to give up something when comes to mobile. This app is probably as close as it gets for what’s out there. One of the key feature I’m looking for is curve, and it (kinda) has it, with fixed highlight and shadow mid point, which for the most part I’m fine with it. The problem I have with it right now, and I hope developer can fixed it in next version, is the inconsistent preview AFTER I did the editing. For couple photos the preview inside the app shows overexposed (after I choose to modify original). It constantly skews my judgement, and esp when I want to copy over edits to other photos.

  • Excellent app, but...

I purchased the full functionality. One of the best editing app in terms of control of how the final image should look. But with one feature left out: no noise reduction functionality. Add this and it will be the best app ever!
  • No noise reduction?

I’ve been using Darkroom on and off with Halide for RAW image capture and editing, but unfortunately I’ve recently noticed that Darkroom has no Noise Removal(!); please tell me, how can I shoot RAW on a tiny smartphone sensor and then “develop” the image without NR? This is a remarkable oversight for such an advanced app, and has led me to delete it and go back to Camera+2 for shooting/developing RAW on my iPhone.
  • Where’s the histogram?

Seriously, isn’t a histogram the most basic feature every photo editor should have? I think the app is great but without the ability to see the histogram, I’m hesitant to buy the premium features.

I don’t post reviews often, but I’m grateful for this awesome app and just had to give my 5 stars and review.

Incredible update to an already awesome app. Love the hashtag sets — saving me so much time flipping to and from Notepad.
  • The Very Best

UPDATE: This is still my favorite photo editor and one of my favorite apps period. The developer team continues to invest in and add useful features on a regular basis. Recent examples include iOS 12’s portrait depth map and hashtag collections. What’s equally impressive is the thoughtfulness of placement for new features. When an (any) app is new, users like it for its simplicity, but software developers have to improve it — they have to add new features. It’s hard to do that without adding tons of complexity. Darkroom hits an awesome balance. **** This is my go-to photo editor. The included filters are great. The manual controls are awesome. It's incredibly handy that you can modify the original photo. You can use the app to browse and edit photos on your camera roll: no importing. Recent improvements have improved the experience of the user interface as well. I'm really glad I paid for this one. 👍 Hey Developers! You created something pretty special. Nice work!!! 😄
  • Best app I ever use!!!

Normally some photo Editing apps force to buy the main tools, which the only thing u can use is just paint brush, but using this app give u the main tool!
  • Great on iPhone—iPad support?

I really enjoy using Darkroom to edit photos quickly on my phone, but I sometimes like to take all my photos from the day and edit them on my iPad. Darkroom could be really awesome on the iPad, too, but all we have access to for the moment is a scaled-up version of the phone interface, which is less than ideal. The larger screen of the iPad makes more precise editing possible, so it’s a shame I have to use different apps on each platform to take advantage of it.
  • Would not recommend

It didn’t have as much options as other apps do, plus it costs 10 dollars to get two other things that are basically the same as everything else you can do. Plus, I let this app access photos but it kept saying, “Do you want to delete this photo?” I would say a better app is Airbrush or Clips (an all free, no ads app owned by Apple) 1)Way too expensive 2)Not a lot of options 3)Could make it simpler (This doesn’t go along with anything but the title and app cover make no sense)
  • Amazing app
