The ads are pretty constant, so I clicked "Remove Ads" ... got prompted to provide iTunes password then authorize $1.99, which I did. Got a "purchase successful" message, then about 15 more iTunes password prompts ... hit cancel 15 times. So -- fishy right off the bat. The purchase was definitely successful -- the "Remove Ads" option disappeared from the game. Kept seeing ads though.
So I restarted the iPad, hoping it was a bug. Launched the game and was prompted with a "one time offer: $1.99 to remove ads and unlock all cities. You will never see this option again". Curious why I was being asked to pay for removing ads when I'd already paid for that, I clicked purchase (in game -- not the iTunes final purchase prompt) and provided the iTunes password. Then the final iTunes purchase confirmation popped up and asked me to pay $6.99 -- not the original $1.99! What the hell? so basically this game doesn't do anything consistently, except try to scam you for more money.
So of course I hit cancel.
The "Remove Ads" option was still gone from the main menu, so I shouldn't see ads, right? Except there are still ads during gameplay. All of this is a little difficult to explain to my seven year old son, who loves superheros and is asking why we have to delete this piece of crap game.
The developer is either scamming, or so incompetent he may as well be. Either way this app should be banned from the iTunes store. Until it is, avoid at all costs.
