What is Civilization? Civilization: Beyond Earth is a science-fiction-themed strategy game that is part of the award-winning Civilization series. The game is set in the future, where global events have destabilized the world, leading to a collapse of modern society and an uncertain future for humanity. As part of an expedition sent to find a home beyond Earth, players will lead their people into a new frontier and create a new civilization in space. The game involves exploring and colonizing an alien planet, researching new technologies, building armies, constructing Wonders, and making critical decisions that open up new possibilities.

- The Rising Tide and map set add-ons make the game even better.
- The quotes that appear and are spoken when achieving new tech are a nice touch.
- The aesthetic of the game is similar to the holographic chess game in the original Star Wars movie.
- The game has a steep learning curve and can be needlessly complicated.
- It is not intuitive like a normal Civ game because it involves building a world based on speculative technology.
- The made-up quotes and the whole idea of Miasma are disliked by some players.
- The lack of plants and sunlight in the game can be depressing.
