  • Works for me. Don’t understand the hate.

    By LaneC (Pcmac user)

I used a free this app for years that worked great but is now no longer working. I needed a replacement and was unsure if this was a good choice because the reviews sucked and the english on the pictures that talk about features have elementry typos. However, I took a chance and it worked fine. It created a the app when I printed one. It’s an ugly solution compared to what I had before because you have to run a little server on your computer to mimic a wireless printer on the network. It’s ugly in the menu bar. However, it works. It prints the app’s. It’s pricey for being an ugly solution but again it works. If you need something that works then buy this.
  • Does what it says but could be better

    By Travis_J_T (Pcmac user)

I am using some software that cannot utilize the built in Mac the app writer tools. Because of this issue I started to explore options for the app writer drivers for virtual printers. This appears to basically be the only one on the App Store and access requirements of some of the tools outside of the App store made me nervous. Even with the limited reviews on the store I decided to bite the bullet and buy the software because of needing it for work. Overall it works as it should with some quirks and limitations. Overall it does what it says. There is limited settings you can change and it appears some settings you need to restart the app in order for them to take effect. Otherwise I have not had problems.
  • works great

I was hesitant to try the application at first due to lack of recent updates. That’s why I first tried the free version, and it worked with a 2 page limit as advertized. I then upgraded to the paid version and it worked perfectly. The reviewer that said “does not work” is wrong and doesn’t know what he or she is doing. If it shows up in the list of printers but shows as offline, it means the application itself is not running. You need to make sure the application is running for the printer to show as online.
  • Works great

Tried the lite version which worked for my requirements (limited to 2 page PDFs) so I upgraded to the full version. Although at $20 it seems a little pricey, it works just fine. Upgrade could have been smoother, rather than activating the lite program the upgrade just added the full version leaving both applications. Once I deleted the lite version, the OS X this app I added switched over to the full version (see below about adding the printer), but I removed and re-installed it anyway to change the naming convention. When first running the program, add a printer from the OSX printer utilities, the system found the new printer right away and added it with no problem. The printer will remain in your list and be available “green” when the program is running / red when you aren’t running the app. You can also start/stop the the app server from the app options. Like others, I use it to generate a the app from a program which bypasses OS X’s built in routine and ability to generate the app files. In my case it was a windows program running under a windows virtual machine. The windows routine recognized the this app and executed it with no problem. Unlike other the app printers, rather than popping up a dialogue box to name/save the file, this just generates a name and stores it in a library sub-folder. Then pops up a preview which you can save, alternatively the printed files are listed in the this app located on the menu bar. A right-click allows you to open the file or show in finder which takes you right to the folder which is buried several layers deep. The files generated are exact, appropriately sized the app files, and specifically not captured images as a scanned the app creates. In my case a 2 page text with formatting (including lines/boxes) document produced a fully selectable/searchable the app file about 26K in size. Documents with embedded images also worked fine. Printing from within the normal OS X print interface worked fine with additional options to scale output/etc. However I’m not sure why you would use this rather than the already available built-in OS X the app generator. Options are limited, like stated elsewhere there are no internal options for resizing pages, options are limited to the print interface of the program your using. In my case 8 1/2 x 11 worked just fine. 4 stars only due to cost, upgrade, and limited options. Running OS X Sierra.
