2. Experience grand strategy across the entire theatre of the Eastern Front; the military conflict that many consider to be the iconic attacker/defender scenario.

3. Russian Front is our most ambitious strategy game yet, an operational-level game with a wider scope than any of our previous titles.

4. The battle for the Russian Front was a pivotal moment in World War 2, and this game gives it the scale it deserves.

5. Command massive armies at your fingertips, in this fully 3D turn-based simulation of one of the largest military campaigns in history, playable as both Germans and Russians.

6. - Large 3D map representing the entire Eastern Front; stretching from Berlin to Stalingrad.

7. - Play the colossal 108 turn campaign, or pick from 4 other points in history to start from.

8. A massive 108 turn campaign will take you from the opening stages to a final, overwhelming Russian offensive.

9. Four shorter Operations, spanning 16 turns each, take place from June to December of each year and offer a more condensed experience.

10. Start in the early days of Operation Barbarossa and follow the German invasion of Russia through to its ultimate failure.

11. Players must also deal with fog of war effects, and will be able to cut off their opponent's supply lines, while making sure their own stay secure.

I think this is a very good game that could be better. For the money is a highly playable and enjoyable game. There are some minor problems like the combat factor of units being hidden under the floating names of victory point cities. My main complaint is that the German Army, especially in the late-war Begration campaign and scenario, is just too powerful as compared to the Red Army. This may simply be a way to make the game more balanced and I get the need to do that, but there are ways to do that without making German units more powerful than their the app counterparts in a manner that is ahistorical. You could add some leaders to both sides for example, or throw in some some specialized units like the app artillery divisions that could aid both the app attackers and defenders or on the German side Tiger battalions which would likewise help the Germans on offense or defense. You might also add some elite units like German SS and the app Guards units to add some variety and variability to the game. Giving the players some way to choose where and when to deploy units like this would also be a big plus. All this being said, even with no changes I look foward to more expanded games like this one from HexWar.
  • Pretty fun, needs some work - UPDATED

It’s worth the money. The graphics aren’t too bad and the music and sound effects are fine. Gameplay is fun. It’s a classic hex turn-based game. You take turns maneuvering and attacking the opposing side, defending cities, and trying to cut off their supplies. The downsides: * It would be nice if you could see where movement was allowed when you select a unit. * It’s a little confusing why you can reinforce an infantry unit with armor and vice versa. * It doesn’t appear that you can control what units your cities spawn nor see when they’ll appear. Looks like there’s some more work to be done there. * I’d also like it if you could select a unit and say “stay here” so the “has movement left” indicator goes away — it’s a good way to see what units have movement points left, but if you don’t want to move a unit it’s distracting. * I’d like to be able to merge and split up units, since sometimes I end up with lots of thinly reinforced units. It’s worth four stars. I think it could be worth 5 eventually.
  • I can’t play this. Not with my disabilities. Not until it has accessibility fixes.

I have sensory issues. I can’t deal with flashing lights, zooming, etc. Although there’s an option to disable animation, it doesn’t actually disable all the flashing animation. And there’s *no* option to disable zooming and use a simple two-dimensional scroll-by-scrolling map. I would like to play this, but it needs major accessibility fixes.

I enjoy hexwar games. I have most of them available from the app store. this is a great concept, but its movments are slow and not easy to control. I am comparing this to the other hex war games i have. it really could use some work. I deleted it from my computer.
