  • Sort of works. Glad the car works better!

    By Ravfox (Pcmac user)

Imagine my surprise at finding this app finally works. Sort of. I tried using it for three years in our GT3. I may give it another shot, but it just never worked. Yesterday, I tried it in our new GT3 RS. Holy moly...it works! Well...it sort of works. In four track sessions today it worked properly once, and the output is extremely impressive. Kudos. Now can we get it to work the other 75% of the time? In two sessions it never managed to record video. In one session it simply crashed. Sigh. Now, upon reviewing the output I find the speed is all in KmH not MPH, and attempts to export more than a single lap freeze the app. Sigh. There’s also no key to the symbols used in the dashboard overlay; I eventually worked them out. I’d RTFM but there isn’t one. Sigh. So when it works it is brilliant. I only had to buy two marvellous cars to get it to this 25% consistency of great functionality and inability to export from this free app. Free if you don’t count the cost of the cars. Sigh. The cars themselves are fortunately wonderful.
  • Latest version needs a lot of work, still looks like a beta full of bugs

    By KrysRoot (Pcmac user)

Just opened the latest version of the app that automatically download 3 days ago. I can no longer export video’s, the download locks up at around 75%. The replay function now puts the speed in KPM and not MPH and there does not appear to be any way to change the settings., The rev counter for some reason now shown my RPM on a Cayman GT4 shifting at near 10,000 RMP (I don’t think the warranty folks would like that. The replay defaults to the fastest lap and it’s not intuitive on how you get to the start of the session. I’ll be heading to a track event this week will let you know how it works to capture events. Also a large proton of the app descriptions are in German. Update: despite a response from the app to provide assistance on the App issues, they were less than helpful. Went to another track event yesterday and the App has completely stopped working. The events are recorded by cannot be viewed, when you attempt to analyze or look at the event, the App crashes. Absolutely useless as it stands right now.
  • It used to be buggy; now it won’t connect to my car

    By silverbird141 (Pcmac user)

I own a 2015 GT3. I was able to get the app to connect and work in 2018. At the beginning of 2018 it would occasionally crash. After a revision or two, it worked well. I attempted to use the app last month (Apr 2019) but was unable to connect the car to my phone via Wi-Fi. The password is GT3[VIN] but after 10 attempts—no joy. I closed all apps, restarted the iPhone X, deleted and reinstalled the app... I cannot get my phone to connect to the car. If you are on the fence about optioning Sport Chrono to use this app, I would not plan on it working. June 2019: The forums led me astray—the x is really an x in the password GTx[VIN]. The new interface is going to take some getting used to but now you can view video as you analyze data. One dislike is when you create a video, it displays your speed in kph and it doesn’t appear you can change it. Please make this more English friendly.
  • Seems like a developer app

    By HPDE user (Pcmac user)

Perhaps 3.0.2 is a better interface but this still seems like a developer app that wasn’t quite ready for release. For example, the ‘preferences’ section is almost entirely in German and only C/ KPH are displayed on the video review (full screen video that looks like the cockpit view) even though I have selected F/ MPH as my analysis setting and English (US) as my settings. I’m glad the app now supports 4K video. The app’s video resolution selection is slow because I can select four video resolutions at one time and the app cannot decide which resolution to choose. The app update corrupted part of a video file so now that video stops playing in the app after approximately nine seconds.
