Software Features and Description

1. The longer you expose a digital camera sensor to light the more photons it is able to detect, thus the longer you can expose your cameras sensor to the night sky, the more stars you will see in the pictures.

2. There is a catch though, because the earth is moving, if you expose the camera too long the stars will blur, when done intentionally this effect can be stunning, but sometimes that is not the desired result.

3. To use Dark Skies, simply select your Camera, and the focal legnth of your lense, and Dark Skies will use the 600 rule to calculate how long of an exposure you can have.

4. Night time photography consistantly produces some of the most stunning photographs on the planet.

5. Dark Skies is here to help you optimize those photographs.

  • My camera is not featured.

    By Empty Eye (Pcmac user)

REALLY not much info and the list of cameras is limited. No info about aperture, shutter speed and probably missing other things too. Too simple... already deleted.
  • Useless program

    By 747whaledriver (Pcmac user)

There are only three choices for the Canon camera; you have no real input as to what camera or ISO setting you are using; every 4-5 seconds, another ad pops up disrupting your use of the program, no matter how many times you decline a purchase for the same item. Very annoying as an app. Developer doesn't know the difference between the word add (a verb) and ad, short for advertisement: this should be a red flag right here. Absolutely useless as a tool for the professional. Erased my copy: I already have a calculator.
  • Literally unusable

    By rbodgers (Pcmac user)

No matter what you are doing, a full screen ad takes over the screen every 12 seconds. Sometimes you can immediately dismiss it, other times you have to watch the first few seconds of a video ad, and still other times you have to wait quite a while to dismiss an ad. I’m serious. I timed it. Every twelve seconds. And the worst part: these ads happen even during the “first launch” tutorial. It took me several minutes to get through the short, 4-screen tutorial because ads kept taking over before I could finish reading each step. Literally unusable. If the developer had this little regard for my experience during the tutorial of what amounts to the trial version, there’s no way I’m paying to find out of the rest of the app actually works well.
  • Easy to use, does what it says

    By anna_chris (Pcmac user)

This is a very simple and easy to use app that does just what it's advertised to do. Well made and the layout is nice. Also - it looks like the "about" section needs to be finished. Good app all around.
