★ ★ ★ Fortress Overview

What is Fortress? The app is an action-RPG game where the player builds a fleet of battleships to fight against the tyrannical Blackwater navy. The player can choose from three ship classes, fill multiple gun slots with powerful weapons, and add modules to get new abilities. The game has 15 missions, and the player can earn resources and blueprints with each victory to upgrade their ship and build a fleet of up to 15 ships. The game is set in a grim new world where the player is a captain in the New Coastal Alliance, a coalition of surviving national and private fleets held together by the need to confront Blackwater.

Game Features and Description

1. You must arm your ship, collect valuable Blueprints to build your strength, and assemble a fleet of warships mighty enough to challenge Blackwater and allow our world to rebuild.

2. Earn resources and precious Blueprints with each victory, upgrade your ship, and build a fleet of up to 15 ships to wrest command of the seas away from your relentless enemy.

3. Take your custom ship build into one of 15 missions, and unleash pure havoc as you target your weapons, ram enemies to bits, and trigger ocean boiling special abilities.

4. Use Fleet Squadron to call in two of your other ships to tackle tough objectives, or send other ships off on timed missions to come back with critical resources to help you grow even stronger.

5. Single player offline play is supported, but for best experience, progress protection, and support, an internet connection is required to register your game data (player is financially responsible for internet, carrier, data, device, and other services).

6. Build the biggest, most blisteringly powerful battleship fleet imaginable, then fight back against the tyrannical Blackwater navy in this hard-hitting action-RPG from the makers of Bloons TD 5.

7. 15 different ship types, 16 Bridges, 100+ weapons, and 75+ modules allow you to craft an incredible array of powerful ships.

8. Governments crumbled, and in 2065, Aiden Black, head of the world's largest naval military contractor, Blackwater Enterprises, unleashed his stockpiled fleets and seized control of the seas.

9. A Note on Stores and In-App Purchases: As a paid game, the economy and Blueprint loot systems are balanced so that you do not need to use any store purchases in order to have fun and be successful.

10. In 2063, vast ice shelves in western Antarctica broke free, crushing coastal cities beneath cataclysmic waves, overwhelming nuclear failsafes, and plunging the world into disease, mutation, economic collapse, and regional conflict.

11. Forget about slow ship simulations you've seen before - this is smooth, one-touch driving with the ability to dodge incoming fire, auto-target enemies, and line up nitro boosts for awesome ram combos.

  • Decent idea but very limited

    By Keishkadin (Pcmac user)

Game has a great foundation, especially if you like naval warfare. Build up a fleet of ships you get to customize with various hulls, a plethora of weapons and components as well as with modules and skill points you get as you level up. You can also send ships on missions to earn resources while you don't pilot themselves. Sadly they put a lot of effort into the foundation but apparently very little into gameplay. Piloting your ship and taking out ships/bases/aircraft is fun the first dozen times. But then you realize you gotta grind the same noob levels 100 more times to buy that next hull, or 1000 more times to level up enough to unlock another level you can grind some more on. They did add random boss encounters and "elite" versions of same levels you can play thru but rewards are still pretty pitiful. All in all with more things to do it'd be great, but the content isn't there now and if you do spend money to buy better stuff fast you quickly find its pointless because you still don't have anything to do with it
  • I'm hooked

    By VertigoXIII (Pcmac user)

It's one of those IOS games that managed to hook me for hours as opposed to a few minutes. It feels repetitive, but i haven't unlocked most of the missions to be sure. But as repetitive as it is, i doesn't seem to bore me as it should. Economy's good so far. It doesn't force you to resort to IAPs as everything can be earned with hard work. The battlecruiser ship design is disappointing. It feels like a tugboat with guns with how stubby it is. Could use a bit of stretching to be longer and maybe be able to mount a few more guns. As it is now, the two other ships can mount more guns and looks more imposing. I also feel like destroyers do a better job at what battlecruisers are supposed to be good at. It's not perfect, and has a lot of room for improvement. So for now, 4 stars.
  • Awesome surprise!!!

    By Vibing (Pcmac user)

Was surprised to see this title since there wasn't any announcement on this release. I loved their bloon series and own all of them. This is very different than bloon theme. It's more of attacking base with different ships. I've only played 3 levels but very impressed with the graphics, sound, and game play. The control is tight and responsive. Not much strategy involved but it's more of a shoot them up. Highly addictive as my fingers are getting tire from moving and dragging the ships around to attack. Get it and u won't regret it!!!
  • Thank the Devs.

    By Derekvc (Pcmac user)

Very very satisfying for those with the player who likes progression through levels and equipment. I love the modules but I hate the skill point virtualizing more capability of the combat efficiency. Devs should make a tier 1 battlecruiser be able to keep up with a tier 2 destroyer. I love the battlecruiser and I wanna be able to put a wicked module that gives more range and impact of the turret. I love this game but I see how somebody wouldn’t enjoy it. SAS TD and SAS 4 was awesome too.
