  • Never failing simple note

    By rick_c_r (Pcmac user)

People typically need just two (maybe three) note taking apps. They need one for more complex notes… with lots of format options, maybe even adding attachments, images, etc. For that you have things like OneNote or Evernote. [ I use these tools for taking notes about work projects ] Then you need a “simple note taking” app for keeping more basic notes, where you don’t need tons of formatting options, or anything complex. You want these notes on all your devices, regarless of OS. Here is where this app shines. [ As a developer, I use this app for things like “common linux commands” “git notes”, etc. For personal stuff, I keep things like notes on names of new people I meet at chuch, car maintenance (when oil was changed, tires rotated, etc.) - stuff I want around for a while. ] The third one, is possibly a ‘quick note’ taking app for shorter things you want to remember but possibly won’t need for a long time ( eg lot me jot down a quick packing list, some upcoming birthday gift ideas, your new locker combination, etc.) [ this app works peferct for this as well, it’s just I like to have different main apps based on complexity. I use google keep for the ‘quick throw-out notes’ and this app for the longer, yet not overly complex, notes. ]
  • stealth power feature: publishing

    By Ignatius_J_Reilly (Pcmac user)

this app is a nice, basic markdown-equipped notes app with solid sync, a good clean look and feel, and unlike some others (Bear, Notes) is cross platform. This means you can collaborate on this app documents with people on any platform, not just Mac or iOS. You can think of it as a much lighter weight and more streamlined alternative to bloated Google Docs. But also, this app’s got a killer trick none of the others have: the ability to very quickly publish any note with a public URL. This makes it lightning fast and easy to publish a note that’s easy to share with anyone who can get to a web browser. Bonus power move if you use Pocket: create a note in this app, publish it, and add the URL to Pocket. I’ve used this to quickly save text from a PDF or any document that’s not readable by Pocket.
  • Good but not great

    By rjdeible (Pcmac user)

I wanted to use this for taking notes at school but I have multiple subjects and this app can onluy handle one. Actually I can put many notes in it but the only way to organize them is though tags and it would just be too hard to navigate them. Would be perfect if it would save as individual files or allow to make more than one notebook. Update: I am using this for a address book in place of the Mac addressbook. Works good. When I am done if I get a torjan or something it won’t affect people in my address book becuase the Trojan won’t know to look in a note file. Works goood for this plus with the tagging makes it super easy to find them. Though I haven’t tried it yet I think I can tap a phone number on my iPhone and it will call it.
  • Simply brilliant, and responsive developers

    By AdamKayce (Pcmac user)

I've been using this app for years now. It's simple (hence the name), clean, supports markdown, easy to tag, you name it. But I'm writing this review because when the last update caused a huge drain on my CPU to the point where the app slowed to a crawl and was unusable, I contacted the developer to let them know. Usually those things vanish into the abyss of who-knows-what, but I got an email back asking questions instead. Surprise, surprise! And now a couple days later, a fix has been released, and it's back to smooth sailing. So, yes - this is a great app if what if does is what you want. Look no further. And, rest easy knowing the developers are active and care about their app's performance.
