Top Pcmac Reviews

  • This is the app I've been looking for.

    By mousyaesthete (Pcmac user)

This is maybe my first app review of all time. I love this time tracker. I have ADHD and suffer from a thing called "time blindness," where my conception of time is just almost always wrong. I also have a really hard time switching tasks, or stepping back to evaluate what I'm doing, and whether I need to change course. When I was self-employed, I used toggl to record my own "time card," but now I need a time tracker mainly to satisfy my own curiosity, keep track of my activities in a low-key way, and have the ability to assess (roughly) how I'm spending my time without "time tracking" taking up big chunks of mental bandwidth (and time!!) This is it. The moment I installed it and the tiny pop-up asked me what I'd been doing, I almost cried with relief. It's so easy. You don't have to remember to look at the time whenever you switch activities, and mess around with your tracker. Your tracker notices this for you, and asks. It helps me track my time without becoming another "thing" I have to do.
  • Nicely built and perfectly minimal tracking tool.

    By 0x0100 (Pcmac user)

I've been wary of the sample based/popup approach to tracking, but the developers have clearly taken care to make this app Time Tracker unintrusive and fluid to use. The AppleScript integration is a nice touch, although it could use more documentation. I especially appreciate the developer's privacy policy. As of writing activities are locally stored, and personal data isn't shared with anyone (increasingly rare, needless to say). I'm happy to pay for a solid product that doesn't make its money slinging my data. The only thing I've felt is missing is sync across machines. I use multiple Macs throughout the day, and it would be useful to continue tracking when switching. It would be great if this could be done in a way that wouldn't detract from the privacy, say using iCloud Drive instead of a remote database. Or just adding an AppleScript action to import data could let users tinker this together themselves.
  • Daily keeps my timesheet organized!

    By Sumerdaisy (Pcmac user)

This is such an easy tool, I've been using it for almost 2 years now and really don't know how I lived without it. When you deal with work timesheets, you don't want to be in there constantly, and with this, I go about my normal day and track easily as the day goes on. And it's great for keeping track of my side project time too. Love! You do have to watch out if you don't log time for awhile, sometimes if you've canceled it out, the next time you go to log time, it wants to log all the previous time you "skipped" which in a lot of cases is not correct. Maybe that has been fixed with the update, but I would notice it a lot. Example I break for an hour do something else, tell this app to not track time for that job. When I would return to that job, if I hit the "track time" button, it would record the new 5mins and that full hour I was trying to not record. Haven't completely figured that out yet, I just watch for it to happen. It was a little buggy when I upgraded my system, it kept telling me I had not re-purchased my yearly membership, but if I would refresh it would be fine. Now that it's upgraded too, it seems fine. Overall the small quirks don't affect my love of this product, it keeps me sane!
  • Appreciate the Simplicity of this App

    By HollowReed95 (Pcmac user)

So far I’ve logged about 15 hours on this app. I like the idea that even if I am not working on my computer I can add tasks and edit the timeframe if my computer goes to sleep, while I’m reading or writing/journaling or researching. I am a freelancer so it also helps me see whether I am using my tme effectively, or wasting it on nonproductive activities! I just started a project that requires hours of research BEFORE I can begin the work that provides income, so it helps me see how much I am making for the amount of time I am spending on the project! Helps me provide accurate recordkeeping for my client as well. From reading other reviews I learned how to edit time if I client the check mark on an old task when it should be a new one! Being able to create a PDF or print a report would be great by using a print menu option. I don’t know how to use AppleScript. Suggestions?
