  • Desperately in need of update

    By Angelwood (Pcmac user)

Dropbox exporting no longer works. Email export no longer works. App tells me to check my Internet connections when I am clearly connected. App tells me I have no email set up when clearly I do and the connection works easily with other app interactions. The Journal is such a great way to collect, store, and transfer birding data when used along with the the app field guide & ID app, but at this time, I have no other way to store it than directly on my iPhone. I recently changed phones and did not know that data was not actually being synced & exported/saved on my Dropbox account until I tried to restore the journal on my new phone. The old phone was broken, not merely updated, so several years of observations and checklists are apparently lost forever.
  • Archaic

    By RDub76 (Pcmac user)

The eBird csv import from Dropbox no longer works. I just get a "spinning" wheel and nothing happens, even after 10 minutes. All of the manual importing and backing up is getting very old. There is no iCloud support. You cannot pick multiple locations on the map when performing a search, you must use the list view which makes it very difficult. Another annoyance is a lack of species variants and sub-species. For instance, inputting Dark-eyed Junco gets you the normal info and picture of the bird. However, after importing my eBird data, which was only possible on the previous app version, I get a blank picture because the app doesn't recognize Dark-eyed Junco (Slate-colored). This would have been a great app 5 or 6 years ago, but now it's archaic.
  • Useful & Time Saving Tool

    By Isisunit (Pcmac user)

So far I've found this to be an incredibly useful app. I love that it links directly to the the app app (regardless of version), allowing you to look up data on the bird you are listing. The main issue I've run up against is more of an OS problem I think - I want to Export my files to eBird but am unable to do so from my iPhone (it won't let me select the file, a problem I've run into repeatedly with other programs as well). So iJournal is currently exceeding my expectations.
  • Lack of syncing between devices serious flaw

    By LouiseLovesApps (Pcmac user)

I am a huge the app fan, having purchased the whole family of products. The lack of either icloud syncing (the gold standard) or Dropbox syncing (acceptable) is a huge problem for me in the journal product. I am constantly moving between devices during the day and want to be able to update lists and checklists from any device. This app only allows manual backup and restore from Dropbox. Please, if you are going to do Dropbox do it like 1Password and actively sync the content. Users have been requesting syncing for several years. Please implement ASAP.
