What is not to love about this app? This is a truly amazing and beautiful app. It is so educational and engaging. I have 3 little boys (ages 5, 6, 7) at home and they were engulfed in this app (they love science stuff). I love the detailed photos with the magnifier and the videos. The Insect stories are a great way to introduce the bugs. The 'see the insect' part was very impressive! There is a quiz that tests your knowledge after you explore the app. I like the two different formats for the quiz (multiple choice and T/F)! This app would be great for all ages! Love the journal that allows the child to take a photo of bugs they find and write about it! This app truly brings the bugs to life! You will not be disappointed with this app! It includes beautiful photos, creative stories, amazing videos, and so many more learning activities! You child will be flooded with facts about forest bugs!! --
A Must For Insect Lovers

A child 5-10 yrs old would love this app! Click on search button to view all the bugs by clicking the ALL button on the left side of the screen or type in the name of the insect and the picture pops up. Each insect has a printed description. There are a variety of ways to navigate through the activities which will definitely appeal to the young scientist, e.g. Insect story & insect trivia (very cool), observation journal, & the quiz (love the quiz, especially for children who need help focusing on details in a sentence, e.g. child has to choose the correct photo... " Which insect has black and yellow legs?") The ease of viewing beautiful videos & photos is flawless. It is also easy to move from one screen to another. Learn details about 33 different insects (mainly beetles, butterflies, moths, firefly, cicadas & stink bugs), but many of the favorites are not in this series, e.g. grasshopper, flies, bees, dragonfly, ladybugs, mosquitoes. An explanation of how to use this app would be helpful, so parents and teachers......you may need to be there as a guide. This is a great resource for any classroom and well worth .99 cents! Looking forward to the next series.

The app this app: Forest Edition is an amazing app with a wealth of knowledge to help children learn all about the different insects they might the app when they are outside on a walk or even when on a camping trip. This is a great app for any science teacher, as well as any parent trying to get their children accustomed to what they may the app outside the front door to avoid any potential anxiety. I know a lot of children are afraid of flies for an example, so it would help with getting this information out there and real for them. The price is amazing for information you will receive to help your children learn and grow. I also love that the children can write their own journal entries about what they have learned and this is a great reinforcement in and outside of school. It gives them important knowledge of bugs as well as a use of critical English Language Arts Skills. I think this would be good for children between the ages of 6 and 12 years old and can be used at each age point in a variety of different ways, learning new facts and information to expand your knowledge over the years.

Some of this is a little over my 5 year old's head, but she still loves this app. Nice looking app with a good balance of education and entertainment. My daughter now uses the terms mandible, thorax and abdomen regularly and correctly :) As far as mating bugs, there might be one? mating scene in this app and there are more than that of fighting insects, so I guess this might not be right for ALL kids, but I would hardly call it gratuitous. They also have many videos of insects eating or walking around, and when put together that pretty much makes up the entirety of a bug's life I think. Worth the money in my book, bought all 3.
