App is so good...
By Wincrest77 (Pcmac user)
This app is so good that I am dedicating an iPad to it. I'm going to hang an iPad on the wall in my family room so I can control and play my music collection any time I want from that spot. My windows machine with my 200,000 track media monkey library is hooked to my main stereo system in the family room. Now my system is complete, great big sound, big speakers and fingertip control to play music. This app is fast too, it has no problem loading auto playlists that have 10,000 tracks! Unlike the media monkey web interface which breaks with big libraries. I love this app, I can hide my dedicated windows machine now that I use to maintain my music and video library, and just have this on the wall for remote control. The ultimate bachelor pad! Anyone using MM will love this app, especially if your computer is hooked to your main entertainment system. I prefer hooking my computer directly to my DAC then to the stereo because I can play high nitrate files that typically don't play on my receivers dlna client. So this app basically allows me to have the best of what dlna does but allows me to use my high end DAC. Also having this hanging on the wall is great for the whole family, I don't have to worry about someone deleting my music and the music library is basically an appliance, easy and always available. This is by far the best add on anyone can get for media monkey.

Works in my crazy network
By Burndonesinkchair (Pcmac user)
I have an old Dell laptop as my media server using JRiver. The Dell's wireless card stopped working, so I used a Network Repeater to give me a wired connection between my router and my Dell. The repeater is limited to 2.4 Wireless N, while my router is a dual band Wireless AC. Initially, the app couldn't find my laptop across the 5G connection to my router. So I tried connecting my iPad to the Wireless Repeater (which is what my Dell was plugged into) and the app had no trouble finding my lapt. I resigned myself to the slower speeds of the repeater initially, but got so ticked off that I decided I would simply change my WiFi connection on the iPad whenever I needed to control the app. To my surprise, using the 5G connection on my iPad, the app was still available. Whether this is due to the app or the two routers, I'll never bother to figure that out; it just works without any issue.
As far as the app, the media interface is far superior than Apple's own Remote app to control iTunes. Once I got it through the networking hurdles, it has been flawless at controlling JRMC. For $3, I am surprised at how well it works. The folks at the app deserve an AttaBoy.

Great remote for WinAmp
By SevenDog (Pcmac user)
If you use WinAmp, this works great as a remote. It's a lot like Apple's Remote app for iTunes. I won't get into why I like WinAmp so much better than iTunes (for Windows), but for those that agree, and still use WinAmp, this app does some nice tricks and works well. I use it to control a large MP3 library for home listening on a little netbook connected to my living room stereo, and it works great for that, with nice playlist control and browsing features. Developer updates features and fixes bugs regularly. Make sure you keep the companion WinAmp plugin updated, too.

Monkeymote

We have been using Mediamonkey for our home music system for a several years and have been using the app for over a year. the app is far superior to our old standard using Apple Remote on an iPad. It is much, much faster to show the albums in a large music collection, which was my growing complaint with Apple Remote. It also has superior displays of the music playing and queued. Recommended highly.
