Aye, Captain!

I gave this game 5 stars because, while it's not perfect, it's been totally engaging. I paid only $2, so that adds to the value of the game. The game is a little clunky at first, but you get the hang of the controls quickly. Hints to players: Standard guns seem to be the best combo of power and range. Use AA guns to protect your self from aircraft carriers. I use a straight edge across my screen to aim my guns. If you can angle your boat to get off a full broadsides, the extra shots really help! As with turn based games, concentrating your fire on one enemy reduces the amount of fire you face. Gauge the distance so you, not the enemy, gets off the first shot. Request to developers: simulating wind would make the game more challenging and fun. Smaller boats in this game are too powerful. They should only be allowed to carry weak guns. Furthermore, I want some 16 inch poppers on my battleships. Why is the aircraft carrier so weak? WWII proved the carrier reigned supreme at sea.
Very unique

I've never played a game quite like this, but I like it! Unlike the typical 'pick a target to fire at' in most games, you actually have to estimate the angle and distance for your shots. It's a bit tough at first but after a few rounds you quickly get the hang of it. It's something that you keep getting better at and it's soooo satisfying when you hit your target! There's 2 campaigns, but the Japanese one is really short, so hopefully more missions will get added. It also needs multiplyer online, playing on the same computer is a bit 90s. Overall it's a really cool and unique strategy/simulation game that I'm happy to support.
Fun variation on classic "tank" game

This is a nicely done naval variation on a classic tank game -- pick your angle and distance and shoot! They've done a good job making it "naval" with different ships, guns, and some basic physics involving the way ships navigate. Setting it into the WWII narrative so that there's something of a storyline (US vs. Japan) helps keep interest. There are a few features sorely missing ("save" game would be one; the ability to command-tab to other apps while it's running would be another), but my boys and I enjoy playing this game against each other when we have a few minutes free. It's worth the $5.
Fun WW2 strat game!

This games has lots of potential. Originally I got it for the iPad, but it's nice to play it on a bigger screen and for $1.99 it is definitely worth it. The game isn't really historically accurate, it's more "inspired" by actual events. The campaign mode is really fun, great to see 2 campaigns to play through. I really hope they add a multiplayer component so I can test my skills against other ship captains. Overall I really like the game! 5 stars! can't wait to see what improvements they make.
