  • Great App... But Nagware?

    By XLjc078 (Pcmac user)

I love this app. But for $25 (I mean, really, TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS!?!?) I expect the developer to enjoy my money, confident in the fact that I like the product enough to pay $25 for it... instead of popping up a "Please Rate Us" window Every. Single. Time. I open the app. Therefore, 1 star. Great app, but extremely disrespectful of paying customers. Edit to add... I did submit an email to the developer as requested. After two weeks, I have not gotten a response. And now Coda is harassing me to review it again. Every single time. So I will reiterate my one star review. And the suggested setting to turn off in-app ratings isn't on my device because I haven't upgraded to iOS 11 yet. This is a premium app at a premium price. I expect better. If it were $0.99 I would be more forgiving. Edit 12/3 in response to developer... iOS 10.3 introduced the developer API to allow in-app ratings. But the user shut off setting was not introduced until iOS 11. That said, the new API is supposed to limit review requests to 3 per year or 1 per year if a review is left. So either Panic has implemented this API improperly or Apple has a bug in its API. I guess I'll upgrade to iOS 11 soon enough. I'm just waiting for a release of it that isn't completely filled with bugs. Seven bug fix releases for iOS 11 in less than 3 months isn't inspiring confidence for me.
  • A great editor with terrible file management

    By humulos (Pcmac user)

The editor itself is very useful and has great options. It's easy to navigate and gets the job done great. The included FTP options are very convenient and work really well. Unfortunately, this app falls flat when it comes to file management. Despite iOS having a baked in files option for quite some time now, this app continues to not support it. As such, your files are basically locked away within the app, and you can't edit files elsewhere on the iPad. You can import from iCloud, but then if you want the file to be back on the iCloud, it's incredibly cumbersome to do so. Basically, once Files support is added, this will become a 5-Star app.
  • Remarkable. Fast. Simple.

    By simsnet1 (Pcmac user)

After endless searches on the App Store for a mobile coding app that supports YAML and JSON formatting, I've found it. After a few uses, I've discovered the many features that this app provides, and let me say that there's absolutely no possible way to say how much I love this app. I've worked as an Minecraft server admin and developer for several years, and sadly the program I used before this got removed 😭...but hope wasn't lost, because Coda definitely brought my mobile capabilities back to life. Not only is it full of neat features like previews, permissions, full FTP support, and a find/replace tool, but they're also easy to find and use! I've never seen anything easier! I hope this app will keep its support into the future, and that it continues to be complex yet simple for all.
  • Looks great... needs Files support

    By blaine00 (Pcmac user)

I’m not a heavy professional web developer... so I don’t really take advantage of all the features. I can say the app looks great and works great. It does what you would expect in a web IDE. I especially like the quick preview button. My one complaint... is the lack of support for the iOS Files app. My web project was actually stored on my Google Drive and I had to copy each individual file one by one to the app. That was a bit annoying... Of course, the developer has already said that they are working on this feature... I just can’t wait to see it implemented. =)
