Paid version - amazing!

I tried a few similar apps (free) before determining I liked photolab best and deciding to invest a few bucks into the paid version. Worth every penny. So much fun, endless options, fun to share! I have two complaints: 1) there’s no way to better organize or search for filters. So if remember part of the filter name I have to spend 5 minutes finding it because I can’t remember if it’s considered a lighting effect or an overlay, a simple border or a frame or an “amazing frame”. There are just too many filters for them to not be searchable or broken down in some other way. 2) it’s cumbersome to preview different filter/effects on a the app, there’s no way to do it quickly. It’s somewhat easier to try different photos with the same filter/effect (because you choose your effect first, then the the app you want to apply it to; I think it should work the other way around). Once you’ve processed an effect on a picture it gives you a way to more easily preview ADDITIONAL filters and effects on the same altered picture, but I wish that option was there from the get-go for photos that haven’t already been run through at least one filter. So it can get frustrating and I think ultimately takes too long to make your masterpiece if you are experimenting. Still a lot of fun though with some pretty cool results.
Things are just getting worse

I first gave this app 5 stars because it was great and I got so much enjoyment out of it. But then when I started to apply the apps that require pictures from the Internet my problems began. I would work out an entire the app and save it to my camera roll however when I tried to put it in the feed to share error messages came up over and over and over again. I contacted the developer and they worked on it and couldn’t see what the problem was. Then is if that wasn’t bad enough one day my entire profile of pictures disappeared I wrote the developer again I guess they worked on it for a few days and said we recovered all 187 of your profile pictures. Well apparently they can see something that I couldn’t because I only counted 10 profile pictures that had been returned. So I start all over again it’s very very disappointing because they can’t seem to give me an answer for what the problem is. Anyone else have this problem? When I apply and effect that requires the Internet pictures I can count on getting an error message so what I have to do is save it to my camera roll and then pull it up again and put it into the feed that way. If you were to look at my original it would look the same I’m very very disappointed.

I tried the free version for a while and was very happy! Then I began to see how awesome the upgraded version was. Upgrading was The best decision ever. I have to be careful not to get carried away spending so much time in this app. There are such a variety of ways you can improve any picture, including every type of effect you can imagine. Not just to lighten, make darker, sharper, etc. There are many types of backgrounds, or scenarios you can place your pictures in. Surrounding your subject with flowers, Butterflies, rain drops, dreamy looking, cartoon characters for baby's photos. Lace and even Holiday surroundings to place your pic in, looking unbelievably awesome. I'm a real person with thousands of photos and I actually get so excited using this app. I'm not disappointed at all and neither will you be. I think it is the BEST the app EDITING APP EVER.
Difficult to quickly find desired effect without signing in to a data mining platform.

Unless I'm using this incorrectly, I have to scroll through thousands of other peoples photos in order to find an appropriate affect to enhance my the app. The earlier version had fewer options with no animation available, but showed each effect only once, with the same model used in each the app. Also was much easier to find in order to use them again. Many of these original the app options are either no longer available or I just can't find them in the cluster of often repeated images. I lose patience sifting through Photos of thousands of strangers just to find an effect that will make a friend laugh. Also, because this app was purchased, I don't understand why I need to sign in to have my data mined and shared through Facebook, Instagram & Google. If by signing in, I would gain access to a more organized, usable product; I clearly paid for an an enormous time waster. This is fun if you're fortunate enough to stumble upon an effect that works for your the app within the hour.
