Adding Apples

This is a beautifully designed app. Our 6-year old daughter with special needs enjoys this app very much. When counting the apples, they change colors after being touched. This really helps her keep track of which she has counted and increases her accuracy. Also, she has been self-selecting the higher numbers--higher than we have been working on. The app's ease of use gives her confidence and lets her control the problem set-up. Evidently she was bored with the 1+1 problems we had been giving her. I love that she was able to show us she was ready for more of a challenge.
Fun and functional way to practice math!

I love the calculator feel of the app, very cute. Aside from being cute, I find this very useful for my son during math homework and practice. I especially like how the apples change color when they are counted- this really helps him keep track of what he is counting better; my kids love earning the coins. Even my 4 1/2 year old enjoys playing! The ability to have multiple player profiles is excellent- and I love that data is kept on the accuracy as well.

This app would be work well for a supplement activity. The students could have fun and experience what it’s like working in a shop like atmosphere. The makers made the apples very realistic, however, with the way the apples move around the screen, it would make the students very hard to do one-to-one counting, which might cause seem confusion. Overall, I think this would be a good app to have in the classroom and at home, but would work better one on one so the teacher or parent can monitor the students’ progress since the app doesn’t have a great feedback option.

I've used this app to work with my youngest sister on math skills since last year. She has a learning disability and really struggles with math and reading, so I try to push those skills frequently. She loves the math apps from Operatio and I love the improvement in her grades since we started using these apps. She's moved beyond the app in school, but still enjoys playing this a few times a week to maintain her skills. Hope to see more apps I can use for her form Operatio soon.
