Emojis do not show up

I love this app but I cannot see any emojis! Same applies to the other app Smiley&emoticons5000. I can see all text based ones fine but if they include emoji I cannot see the emoji and it just shows as a square. I have emoji keyboard installed and I can send and view them just fine, just not with this app for some reason. Please help!!!
