Awesome offline mapping system

After a nightmare day of having three different GPSs fail us: 1)ipad and iphone losing the mapping ability using Google maps without a connection after traveling about 15km then 2)Having our Garmin lead us down a wrong path by 5 km in some random direction, then, after landing us in some remote area, completely freezing up to never respond again. We had to navigate the Italian roads using the old method, no not a sextant, compass, and an accurate timepiece, we had to use a printed map that was basically all of Northern Italy, a printed map! We missed our tour, and basically spent the whole day on the road trying to figure out how and returned home flustered and tired. Well we had another tour the next day 45 km out of town, and not near a train station. We almost cancelled when I found this app and it saved the day! I installed the app and was able to use it offline for the whole trip, not only that, but the ease of use (used if for 10 minutes the night before) was incredible and really helped navigate the crazy italian streets in town and in the countryside with minimal frustration. Thanks the app!
Saved my vacation

As insurance for my driving vacation in Italy, I had downloaded this app just in case my Garmin got lost or stolen. Well, guess what? My Garmin failed to work right from the outset, so I used this app for the whole trip. And it worked (almost) flawlessly, providing directions to even the most our-of-the-way locations. The only "complaint" that I have is the same one I have with ALL GPS's - they sometimes lead you on less than direct routes. In this case, the app inexplicably would try to take me off of highways whenever we approached a toll even though I had turned off the "avoid toll roads" preference. I got caught with that problem on my initial trip out of the airport but then just drove where I wanted to go on subsequent trips and the app properly adjusted the route as we went along.
Very handy app for my trip to Italy.

I recently took a trip around Italy and the app: Italy was a great tool that really helped us get around. I didn't have cell service there so the app was perfect since you just download the country maps and use the GPS location services to get around. I found it most useful in the cities and towns but be warned that if you're driving, like we did, some of the very small roads may not be included in these maps. I had compared their navigation with google maps prior to my trip and figured out the difference but otherwise it worked great and I depended on it more than my own GPS which I brought with me.
I've learned to trust it.

Great app. On my 2nd destination, I thought it messed up when the road ended at a set of stairs. In frustration I turned back. Later found out I had been at the rear of my hotel building in Assisi. Hotels in Italian cities sometime gave parking away from main building. We've now used it for 5 destinations. All have been found. Like most GPS, I wish there was an entire restaurant and hotel travel guide in the POI. It was integrated Google Search, which is he bomb if you have WiFi or data service.
