Annoying way to read the Statesman

Disappointed in this app. After I read each story it takes me back to the top and I have to scroll all the way down. I just read another story that referred to tweets being sent by people and every place where there should have been an image of the tweet being referred to there was an ad. It won't let me scroll through different sections of the paper. I like the version I loaded onto my iPad so much better.....I could even pull up the actual page of the newspaper instead of just these small samples of stories. Come on Statesman...... You are better than this! I know you are.....
Push Notifications Stopped Working

I love the UI. Very modern and clean. My one thing that bugs me is, as an the app resident, I want to be updated with push notifications. I opted into them originally. However, I opted out during the fall. Not all of us are UT fans or graduates. The UT Football score updates just got way too annoying due to their frequency. I don't need to be updated on that every 5 minutes. I wanted to opt back in after football season passed. However, despite opting back into them my settings, I haven't received a single push notification. I even deleted and reinstalled the app. Still nothing. It's like after I opted out once that officially blocked me from ever getting a push notification again. I have friends with this app and they are getting push so I know the Statesman is still putting them out. I just cannot seem to get them. Please fix this!
I’m a subscriber and this app is very poorly designed

Pros: App seems stable and that is important and the only reason it got two stars instead of one star. Cons: On my iPhone SE (with latest system update the text runs wildly over photos and graphics. Also the formatting makes it difficult to tell where one article stops and the next starts when browsing the section. App is slow to load and is very confusing, looks like a middle school attempt at programming and is by far the worst app on my phone. I have no problems with any other of my 25 apps, only this one. Unclear if all the articles from the daily paper appear in the app. Why can’t they just filter articles by the date and next to the headline state which day and page number it appeared as in the newspaper? I prefer to read the paper on a tablet but there are times that I want to read it on my phone like when I’m waiting for an appointment or especially to share an article with others. Why is this app so poorly designed? The paper itself has made big improvements with the new leadership but this app is an embarrassment.
Infuriating pop-ins while scrolling

Scrolling through the headlines or through stories is infuriating. Your spot within the page jumps off the screen as you scroll into an area containing an ad. That ad loads in and the app snaps focus to make sure the ad is fully displayed at the expense of the user losing where they were reading. Ads cover the last few lines of every article. I have to scroll beyond the end of the page to pull those last few lines out from behind the ad. I will be going back to using the web-based ePaper version of the statesman because of these poor design choices.
