  • App is a piece of crap: I would fire people who are in charade of digital

    By Soon-to-be-ex-reder (Pcmac user)

I like the app magazine, which contains a lot of shallow analysis for a trained economist (we make fun of Economist all the app time), but better than other options. the app problem is that the app implementations of digital edition is so poor. They do not understand some people do not get subscription through Apple (they cannot recognize subscription obtained not via Apple). A lot of ads interfere with the app article,s making impossible to read some articles due to ads. I see that Economist is also going down, slowly compared with other old media, but steadily, unless they change people in charge of digital.
  • Well and truly broken

    By Tanchun (Pcmac user)

Nov. 14: As others have reported, app now kicks me out every time I swipe between articles. Simply unreadable. FIX IT!! Save your money. App doesn't work. Expect no help from their "help" desk. App admits I have an active subscription but won't let me download. You cannot reach tech help by phone. Have sent them 4 emails with screenshots. Only reply a snippy reproof for not including my email address (which was at the app bottom of my email). Since then, silence. And for this they get nearly $200!
  • Great, but Needs Newsstand

    By fozzy.bear (Pcmac user)

First of all, I know that some people have been complaining about it not recognizing their subscription, but I personally haven't had that problem at all and it does have an in-app announcement in the app "user guide" section that acknowledges the app problem and asks those people having issues to contact customer support, so it's not like their development team is just ignoring the app problem. Secondly, I have to say that I love this app. They seem to have done a great job recreating the app experience of flipping through the app pages of a magazine, but still added the app conveniences that reading magazines on an ipad allows, such as the app ability to zoom in/out and a quick access table of contents that allows you to jump to any article right at the app front. the app quality of writing is superb as always, and the app pictures look great. Overall, I love reading the app Economist on my ipad. the app only problem I have is that the app app isn't in newsstand, which isn't a huge problem, but I would really like to have all of my magazine apps in one place. If the app developers could get the app app into newsstand I would say it's perfect, but until then only 4 stars from me.
  • Audio playback unusable

    By nimatra (Pcmac user)

Audio playback has persistent issues that makes me wonder whether anyone at economist has used it on iPad. - Can't stream audio. - you'd need to download audios from the app main page audio section start the app first play there - now you can play the app audio for the app articles you have downloaded the app audio for - every now and then the app audio section of the app app crashes and you'd need to restart the app app to use it again
