  • just another pretty face

By The Notorious GRP (Pcmac user)

Visually very good, but.... At the hardest level the AI player is really not up to par. Backgammon is THE game in my family and it's been like that for decades. Everybody plays, every body has a set, and the play is very competitive. the AI here is very rookie. It fails to cover open pieces, it doesn't take peices out of the starting field even when they are obviously getting blocked in, and misses obvious good moves. "Harder" level of play" is no more skilled, thE AI just rolls more boxcars.
  • Slow game play

    By Beerhauler (Pcmac user)

FIBS has been sketchy lately, so I was looking for a backgammon alternative. This game looks really pretty, but the game play is cumbersome. I think that the varying levels of difficulty just translates as ā€œAI gets better rolls.ā€ On the hardest level, the AI was still making some really stupid moves. Really dumb. Don’t think I will be keeping this one around.
  • Good but not great

    By VLeaC (Pcmac user)

This is a pretty game, but I like it because when I play single player in the hardest mode I really get a tough game that I lose about as much as I win - what you’d expect from a dice game. Only problem is an occasional bug that stops me from bearing off my pieces at the end; it is like it hasn’t registered that all my pieces are in my home space.
  • I deleted this game.

    By Linda Stepp (Pcmac user)

I am not impressed. Nobody likes to lose but when it is against the computer they don’t dislike it; they hate it because the computer cheats! We know it is just a machine but it is designed by a human and humans cheat so therefore the machine cheats. This one cheats too. I played a simple game and won; I was suspposed to; the computer does not care to bring it’s A+cheating game against a novice because . . .a human designed the game. So in the second game I upped it to Med hard; the choice just before No Way You Win and in this game got on the bar. No big deal; except the game would not let me off the bar over and over again. I always really hated that in a computer backgammon game. This time was no exception. The other things I don’t like have to do with the graphics and the way the pieces move. The graphics seem backwards to me; it looks strangely unfamiliar and I play the game (not this version) a lot. I don’t like anything on the board that flashes; on the right upper corner of the board it would flash ā€œEnd Moveā€ in large letters like it is yelling at you. I don’t like the way the pieces move; they are slow and clumsy and having to use the mouse or enter key to end my move. This game will allow you to ā€œdo overā€ a move and that is just to assuage the guilt of the human who designed the app. Yet another proof that the game cheats. Well, what can you expect for 99 cents?
