  • More a tech-y clearing up than a review

    By David Pennell (Pcmac user)

First, the old app did not have applescript support, because it had no document and hence no introspection, so none of the 3 Suites (Standard, Text, Print Settings) apply at all under any circumstances. Second, like many other modern OS X apps, if you wanted to keep your coloring for program snippets, you were better off pasting than pasting and matching style, which paradoxically strips styling off. I can "script" it with System Events or Automator. That said, while it didn't help you search, there was in fact a tagging system. You can see it in the xml of your the app DB. My System Events to import stuff from IdeaKnot (which no longer works on OS X Lion because it's PowerPC) used: do menu item "Add the app;" tab twice; paste or keystroke in the name/label of the the app; tab twice; type in the tag for the the app; tab twice; now you're in the content and can paste or keystroke it in (or use Automator and some juggling to add images). I transferred all my IdeaKnots to this app (using xml parsing and system events) that way. I think its selling point is mainly the RTF nature of the entries, including graphics. I am comparing things to, e.g., Dash and my old workhorse Eclipse environment.
  • Good App

    By McJGDees (Pcmac user)

I was glad to find this app for Mac as it does just about everything that an app I wrote did in windows, great time saver. A couple ideas that I am requesting: 1. Let the user double click the title of the the app to copy to clipboard or offer a button right next to each. Hunting for the copy button breaks the flow. 2. Make a preference available to alphabetize your the app list. I name all mine with mysql_snippetname, php_snippetname, etc and would like all of these to organize themselves together that way.
  • Potential... But lacking.

    By Gallowraven (Pcmac user)

This app has some potential, but it is lacking many things... For 1, and the biggest: There is no help at all for this app. It supports colored syntax, but how do you use it? This may have some good features, but there should be atleast a brief walkthrough or even a few lines explaining how you use it, or even put something in the app description. 3 stars for now. If/when it gets updated and I can actually know how to use more than a 2 of the features, then I'll bump it up.
  • Love It
