What is Lightning Fighter?

Lightning Fighter is a shoot 'em up game where the Earth is invaded by aliens and the player has to pilot the ultimate weapon, the Lightning Fighter, to defeat the invaders. The game has smart controls that switch between tilt and touch controls, three different weapons, three difficulty levels, seven challenging levels, bosses with rich attack patterns and transformations, Game Center support, and gyroscope support for precise tilt control.

Not just memories of Hyper Dyne Side Arms, not just memories of RAIDEN and Raiden X, not just memories of SkyShark, but this brings all that back and more. And for just a buck...I will play this till the screen dims and the pad is out if charge - perfect for the iPad. Thank you for such a great game at blowout price. You all Roxors!!! **Update** I upgraded my OS to the latest version for my Oldschool iPad1 and played this game using background electronic game music that I've composed....YEE HAW!! What a blast - (er....no pun intended) What else do they make, I'd buy it. Please make more quality games that have this attention to detail. Thanks.

Reminds me of the good ol' days when I was a kid at the arcade playing Raiden. Definitely a good buy! And for those of you unsure about buying the other planes: Just don't; the blue plane (the app) is the best imo. The purple plane's (Thunder Bolt) beam doesn't lock on to a ship, but instead wiggles around toward the direction you move. If you do want another plane then Firestorm (orange plane) would be the best to buy. Its "Hyper Beam" laser is easily the most powerful weapon in the game. TL;DR: Great game to buy w/o the other planes, but if you do want some different weapons, buy Firestorm. Skip Thunderbolt until they update it's beam to lock onto an enemy instead of wiggling around aimlessly.

If you're a fan of Raiden, then this game is for you! It's single player (7 stages) and you only get one ship, but that doesn't make it any less awesome. Two additional ships can be purchased in-game for a dollar each. In my opinion, "Firestorm" (orange) does the most damage with the solid "laser beam" weapon. The purple ship isn't anything special, the wiggly beam doesn't track making it hard to hit enemies.

This is a solid schmup with all the basics in place. The core game feels lackluster though, with only a single fighter available to play. There are 3 weapon upgrade tracks included but it doesn't add enough to make this great. In app purchases are a way of life but I would have paid for and rated higher a full game for 4 bucks. It feels, as usual, like nickel and diming for what could be included anyway. For my money and full content I'd take raiden (4 games, dozens of fighters, and tons of levels) for an extra buck any day. As it stands with in app purchases, this is just...not that great.
