The game has specific rules regarding Chi, Pon, and Open Kan, and players must pay attention to whether there is a hand when they do 1 and 9 in Chi and Pon. The game also allows for the creation of a hand by paying 1,000 points and doing Reach, but this cannot be done when Chi, Pon, and Open Kan are done.
