A bit too frustrating

After buying and playing this game for several weeks, I’ve given up. Too many of the combinations are not intuitive or logical. And while I understand there is included the element of fun and whimsy, it is difficult to advance when you must repeatedly try each new element with all the others - every time- just to discover the odd combination. Also, I tried to purchase hints to keep me going, but they never showed up in the game. The graphics are excellent, far and above all other similar games. However, the playing screen ( on the phone) is small and restrictive allowing too few elements at a time while still having your list in view. Unless you move them under your scroll list, you are limited. Also, unlike other such games, you can make the same combinations over and over again. Not a bad thing except when your screen is full as you try new combinations and inadvertently make something you’ve already made and didn’t intend or want to make again. I was sad to delete the game because I had such high hopes. But, as I said, it became too frustrating.
Entertaining

When me and my older sister got our first iPod Touch (maybe 3rd gen), the original this app was one of the first games we downloaded. Recently I was perusing the App Store and I saw this. We have been playing it for a couple of days now competing to complete more elements. It’s nostalgic and more importantly, it’s fun. It’s a great game for filling small amounts of time. Like using the bathroom or when you’re awkwardly sitting somewhere waiting for someone, and your social media is gettin’ stale. Be warned: Sometimes you get stuck, you won’t know what to combine. Just keep trying, and think about the ones you have in different ways. It is super satisfying when you get a new one that can be used in like a million different ways, like Life.
Combinations do not make sense

Fire + water = firewater????? Wow! Firewater is a very strong alcoholic drink that burns on the way down! Would have been nice to get steam. Maybe it is a joke? I’m hoping it is a joke. I read a little further in the comments and read the developer isn’t going for realism. Also the interface is very laggy. Dragging one element to the work space takes more than a few seconds to register. In addition it seems it’s a bit heavy. Maybe because of the animation. There is also a space to the right where things seem to get lost if dragged into area. Lastly the type is very small. It would be nice when discovering something it opens to a new screen with clearly visible font. I’m using on a iPhone 8. So I will see if there is something I can do to make it bigger. I appreciate the developer responding to my review. Now coming into the game with an outside of the box point of view as opposed to being very literal make game play much better. I have not deleted yet and am giving the game a chance. This is my edited review
Good, but malfunctioning.

The game itself is really fun and I love to play it, and more recently I had downloaded it again. But, the problem is every time I get to the point where I create “life” a closed scroll pops up on the screen and doesn't leave. I tried closing the app and shutting down my phone and re-downloading the app, but every time I get to create “life” I still get that scroll and when I try to load into the game it still doesn’t leave my screen. I am not sure what is wrong but it is annoying that I cannot play past that point which is extremely early considering how much you can make in the game. Please help me.
