  • Wow

This is the best the app reading app I have used. I like being able to choose which key range and key signatures will be quizzed. Being able to turn key labeling on and off is helpful too. I hope the developers add a setting that shows several measures of notes (such as a line of music) at one time so users can practice the app reading a series of notes. Reading one note at a time is an important 1st step, but it is the equivalent of naming individual letters of the alphabet. Reading notes in series, by contrast, is like reading words instead of individual letters. We also use another (inferior) the app reading app simply because it displays an entire line of music at a time. Also, offering chords would be great - even if it were just thirds and triads. If there were a chord option it would be helpful to limit the number of keys on the screen so the key size could be increased. Even while reading a single note at a time my children and I frequently touch the wrong key accidentally because of the small key size.
  • one of the best musical apps

This has to be one of the best musical educational apps in the itune store as both of my kids just love to play it on my iPad since I downloaded it. Great user interface and sound effect! Very versatile on the quiz notes. Useful feature to allow beginner just play white keys. It ever smarter on giving choice to increase practice more accidentals for advanced practice. Love the history stats feature and with this feature, it is so encouraging for the youth to keep practicing and improving their stats. Got to give two thumbs up just for the stats.
  • Great For Learning to Sight Read, but...

    By Lord Todd (Pcmac user)

I love this app. It's definitely worth the money if you are learning to the app read. I started from knowing absolutely zero about how to read music and this app has been a big help. Just keep in mind it's not designed to teach you to the app read so much as to help you practice memorizing everything. If you are totally ignorant, you will need another book or person to explain to you what all the notation means. The only suggestion I have is to add a switch in the settings to shut off the piano key labels. I need to practice reading sheet music AND identifying the correct key on the piano. The labels make it too easy and I found I had to cover them with a sheet of paper to stop myself from looking. Otherwise, a great app.
  • Good but some improvements could be made.

First, a bug: Sometimes you hit the right note and it says you hit the wrong note. Totally not fair. 1. I realize splitting the keyboard into three sections is necessary given the available real-estate on the screen. However, I think things could be rearranged to put all three sections of the keyboard on screen at once with the high end at the top. This way the time to get the note isn't taken up by trying to change where you are on the keyboard. 2. Chords: I think, if possible, it would be useful to those who know the notes to be able to the app read chords more quickly. Triads, 7's, etc..
