Software Features and Description

1. Magic Stave listens to you singing or playing an acoustic musical instrument and displays the sound as notes on a music stave and shows the note positions on a piano, guitar, violin, flute or chromatic harmonica.

2. If you have a MIDI keyboard you can connect this to Magic Stave and it will display MIDI notes played directly.

3. Magic Stave records MIDI tracks either from the microphone or directly from a connected MIDI keyboard.

4. Once you have recorded a MIDI track you can either play the track via the built-in MIDI player OR play the MIDI data (send it) to any set of connected MIDI devices (sound modules, GarageBand on Mac etc.) you choose.

5. - Record MIDI data from Microphone or a connected MIDI Keyboard (via cable or bluetooth).

6. - Display notes on a piano keyboard, guitar fretboard, violin fingerboard with fingering tapes, flute fingerboard or chromatic harmonica.

7. - Play MIDI recordings via the built-in MIDI Player OR Send MIDI data to connected MIDI devices.

8. Learning to read music and not sure whether the note you're playing is right? Magic Stave shows you the note you're actually playing and you can compare that with the sheet music you're reading to check you've hit the right note.

9. - Converts detected notes via Microphone to MIDI notes.

10. When recording from a MIDI keyboard full polyphonic performance data is recorded.

11. You can connect any MIDI instrument through a suitable interface and cable OR wirelessly using Bluetooth (on IOS 8 or later on a compatible device).

  • One note only

    By Bangs Family (Pcmac user)

Records notes if you only press one note at a time If you press two, it records a random note Does not record if you press the same note again No timing, everything is a whole not This is completely unfinished
  • Note History doesn't work

    By Logic lunatic (Pcmac user)

Tried the free version and liked it but it didn't record a note history, which the full version boasts. So bought the full version for that purpose and i greatly regret it. The note history, for one thing, can't be cleared. But then it only shows the last 7 notes anyway, and it has never once actually shown the correct sequence of notes that i played. It also won't show the same note if it is played twice in a row. It shows a correct note here or there plus a lot of incorrect notes that were never even played. It often seems to be laying notes down randomly, sometimes going to a lower note when it should be going to a higher one. The lack of accuracy is both profound and disgusting. It does do a decent job recognizing notes when the note history is turned off. My recommendation, if the note history is important to you, is to stay with the free app until the developer fixes this one, or perhaps find another. I can't comment on any of the other features.
  • My Dream App

    By =RT81= (Pcmac user)

Ever since I was a youngster learning music, I dreamed of an app that would allow me to hum or sing a melody and immediately show me the notes. That dream has come true with the app Stave. If you have a modicum of ability to sing on key, you can use this app to figure out any melody you imagine. I have fairly decent relative pitch from many years of playing music, but sometimes I just cannot figure out an interval by ear. the app Stave to the rescue! If I can sing it on key, the app Stave can tell me exactly what note I’m singing and I can figure out the interval from there. It can display the note position on various instruments, including guitar, AND show you the actual note name on the stave (A C note will actually appear as the letter “C”). This is fantastic for dummy, self-taught rock guitar players like me who only have very basic music reading ability. As an added bonus, the app Stave can now immediately PLAY that melody with one of several instruments along with outputting the MIDI file. You don’t have to wait to import the MIDI file to a DAW anymore (although importing the MIDI file is also a FANTASTIC feature). All around an awesome app! I’d buy this app 10 more times if I could. It’s THAT good to me.
  • Terrible

    By jessa0000 (Pcmac user)

I got this app to help me write music when I had a melody. This is probably one of the most confusing apps I've ever used, and does a very bad job of finding the correct notes. It also ignores double notes, even if you rest between them. It's one of the worst apps I've ever had to experience using.
