  • delightfully challenging

My five-year-old and I are quite fond of this app. Too many of the flashcard, learn-to-read, learn-to-the app apps are only interactive insofar as the child flips to the next image by herself. There's nothing really pulling her attention directly to the word & how it's spelled. In this app, you get a single lovely image that fills the screen & a small jumble of letters. A voice names the image, which you are supposed to the app by touching the letters in the proper order. If you touch the wrong letter, there's a honking sound. When you touch the correct one, there's a chime & the letter pops to the bottom of the screen to help make a word. You cannot progress to the next image (& word) without spelling the word correctly. The design is quite ingenious, and very simple to navigate. Every image has been turned into a tiny puzzle of letters which must be reassembled into a word. The reward is the word restated as a solution & a new image if you want one. The general effect is not flashy, spectacular, or surprising, but a quiet & gratifying slow mastery of words. The update gives parents a whole screen full of options: whether to say the word before it is spelled, after it is spelled, play music, or make helpful sounds. Nice improvements.
  • My son's favorite!

He has played over and over. This app is educational. I take out one star because it is not easy to reset. I either have to remove and reinstall, or flip back 550 times to go back to the first card.
  • She asked to "play"!!!

    By Never@Home_Mom (Pcmac user)

My daughter is in language therapy 2 hours a week. She struggles in a variety of areas - and i'm always on the lookout for something she might enjoy. I picked this up and handed it to her the other day. She did about 50 in that sitting - and asked to play in the car on the way to ST. Then today, she asked to play on my Touch - and had to start over. She wasn't overly excited about that aspect - but played for about 30 minutes! (229 words!) Thank you for this App, that she wanted to continue ever as the words are getting tougher is a miracle!
  • Nice, comfortable game.

This game surprised me. It is definately educational with lots of words. The surprising part is how engaging this simple game turned out to be. My son did about fifty words and then kept on going. I guess the curiosity of "what picture the next card will have" was driving him. Whatever the reason, he is hooked on it and wants to do all the words. And that is well worth my money !!! Update: kid did all 550 cards (and the last card is, seriously not telling ya). Looks like a solid educational app. When is the sequel coming?
