  • Review of CCEL Bible (Free)

By Peper RONNY PIZZA (Pcmac user)

As a student of theology I have been searching for a decent Bible app for the iphone. There are of course several to choose from, but what I like the most about the app Bible (Free) is that it has a clean interface, is easy to navigate, and uses a serif font as the default font. Once you start the app you are presented with a list of books (a library), and at the bottom there is a menu bar with the standard options. When choosing a book you are presented with the title page of the selected book, and after a second or so the option bar and title bar “fade away” so you only have to page in view. The pages are cleanly formatted and are very easy and pleasant to read. As an iphone app it is very useful, and I keep it on my home screen for fast and easy access. As a major pluss, the upcoming feature to download books from the app is perhaps what makes it the most promising of all the bible apps I have seen so far, and it will without a doubt be my bible app of choice.

I use this app daily. Love spurgeon and imitation of Christ. Today my icon was there but nothing came up. Tried three times to download it but same thing happened. Give it four but would give five if it was not lost in never never land.
  • Disappointed Expectations

This app is okay, but it is not my favorite bible app. There are several other bible apps that are free with much better translations. What drew me to this app was how great of a selection the the app library has online, but the books available in the library are lacking. The only books available are light and fluffy devotional books. The works that make the the app library so great are lacking. I removed it from my iPod, because I have other apps that work better. Page turning (rather than scrolling), original languages, and better translations and books are all available on other bible apps. When they provide more the app books for this app it would again be worth looking at.
