Very surprised

I love the fact that there is a Laotian app but it is very limited. Please don't make this a useless app cause we already have alot of people that aren't interested in the people and country and cause we definitely need people to understand us better in order help the app people so we don't lose our culture and language like the American Indians!!!

Limited but cute

If I read one more complaint about tone marks... The average non-polyglot doesn't even know what to do with a tone mark when they see one. This isn't a master language program; you can't expect to learn more than a few bare bones phrases from it. The pronunciation is not off; someone who has never spoken the app or Thai before will have a very difficult time duplicating some language sounds. This is especially true for native English speakers. However, Laotians are not so mean that they won't try to understand you and correct you if you're screwing up their language; usually they're grateful that you're even trying.

Completely Useless

This application is a joke. It might be useful if you never needed to say any number over 10 (but at 8500 Kip to the US dollar, just getting to 10 won't help you buy anything), or mention any day other than today or tomorrow, but in the real world, the limited vocabulary will leave you frustrated.
Then there's the problem of pronunciation. Since it does not provide the tone marks, your chances of being understood are close to nil. Neither can you show your screen to the person you're trying to speak with, because this application does not provide the translations written in the app.
It took me almost a half hour to download this app (connectivity is very bad in Laos) and it was a complete waste of time. Why do they even bother?

Great free app. Would love to pay for a more complete version in the app. Depending on the area of Laos you're in, the words and accents are correct.
