Really helps

After reading the reviews I was skeptical. After buying and trying it against a keyboard the notes were picked out correctly. The real reason for buying it was to help my son see that the notes he was hitting with the trumpet were off. Granted this does not adapt to other instruments (thus it had to be shown what note this will read when he hit the note correctly) it still had amazing results in his being able to see what was being hit.
A suggestion for making this even better: allow different instruments to be entered so the note displayed will match the music. Another suggestion is to display how far from perfect the app the note being played really is.

Might be great - but isn't what I needed

Not so useful, actually, at least not for barbershop. The upper staff needs to be transposable down an octave to match written scores. (For women, the lower staff is transposed up) It should be possible to specify a key signature and temperment. There should be a single voice mode wherein it will never be confused into naming a chord.
I haven't tried this with instruments.

I hope that this app improved cause it's an awesome idea. The chord it shows first is right but then it scatters all over the place. A more precise program would make this worth while and a possible key designed interfaced so the app could guess the chords better.

Cool idea. Throw in a recording option so that I can export what I played to my computer and print out the notes
