  • Good afford

    By FalconHawk2 (Pcmac user)

I like this App by it lacks Functions and Operators that I was hoping for and calculations on Time and Date fields are inaccurate but I find the App useful for some things so I give the 4 stars.
  • Promising app w big limitations

    By The Hawk (Pcmac user)

This app has an interesting and long lineage dating back to the palm. Unfortunately it is hampered by trying to support too many platforms and just one or two developers behind it. Pros: extremely cost effective text based database app. Surprising extensibility. Supported by dozens of user supported db templates. Cons: very erratic support. Poor desktop synchronization. Limited logic capabilities. Field limitations. No editable calculated fields. No ability to mass update calculated fields on import. Final verdict: great for the price but you get what you pay for. Ive been building a mini crm app on this. Surprising what i can do. However the pc based client cannot replicate iphone functionality 100% so ive ended up doing all my design and data updates on the iphone. Save yourself money-only buy the desktop version if you either need a backup copy or if you have simple data updates u need to do. Dont think you can enter data on the phone and then mass update it locally because it doesnt work under many conditions. Also recommend you buy the forms designer. Also, note the field logic is limited, you cant override it at the record level, and there is no currency value. There is the ability to create multiple databases and link them together which is very cool.
  • 10+ years And counting!

    By DRRICK308 (Pcmac user)

I can’t remember how many years I’ve been using the app, but it’s probably closer to 15 years and I am so glad that they have continued support as I have use these databases extensively in my home life and my business. The ability to synchronize and back up your data bases with Wi-Fi is fantastic and I believe handy base was probably one of the very first to do so. My only complaint is that if you forget your encryption key you may not be able to recover the database.
  • Very nice app

    By zorkguy (Pcmac user)

This is a very nice little app. I have been using the app since my Palm Tungsten. Does everything I need, except for one glaring omission. I can’t sync info between my iPhone and my iPad without using a desktop machine. This is quickly going to become unacceptable, as I have almost completely moved away from desktop machines to mobile platforms. I don’t know how I am going to sync info between the two after the transition. I guess I will have to find a new app. But until then I will use this one.
