Software Features and Description

1. AlohaSafe Alert is the official exposure notification app of Hawaii and has been designed for use in Hawaii in coordination with the Hawaii State Department of Health.

2. If you test positive for COVID-19, you can share these anonymous tokens, which will send a notification to anyone with whom you have exchanged tokens recently, notifying them of possible exposure.

3. This service does not collect any personally identifying information or share it with the State of Hawaii, the Hawaii State Department of Health, Apple, or Google.

4. The goal of AlohaSafe Alert is to support the re-opening of Hawaii communities and economies.

5. AlohaSafe Alert is a voluntary service that helps slow the spread of COVID-19.

6. AlohaSafe Alert is a source of up to date COVID-19 information & guidance.

7. If you have enabled Exposure Notifications on your phone, whenever you are within close proximity (approximately 6 feet of someone for at least 15 minutes), your phones will exchange secure, anonymous tokens.

8. The AlohaSafe Alert app was built using the open source project developed by PathCheck Foundation.

9. If that person later tests positive for COVID-19, you will receive a notification about a possible exposure.

  • Feel safer but battery drains

    By Beni63 (Pcmac user)

I feel safer but since installing my battery drains quickly, too quickly. My battery easily used to last all day but now it only lasts half a day. Will probably uninstall.
  • Looks good like other countries

I have experience using one other COVID app for a different country, and this seems the same - a reliable way to trace contacts without sharing location. Please roll this out and skip the pilot program. It’s working in much bigger areas.
  • Secure, and much needed

    By HawaiiWeblog.com (Pcmac user)

If you believe contact tracing can help contain COVID-19 (and it can), trust this privacy focused app over an overworked state employee to keep track of your fully-anonymized close contacts. The science and the public health benefits are sound, no matter what your crazy uncle says.
  • Better late than never

Now the DOH has got to include the entire state. They had to start somewhere and Lanai made sense but we need it statewide as soon as possible Congrats to DOH for getting it started as overwhelmed as it is.
