  • Do the games end and give scores?

    By Louise1123 (Pcmac user)

I started with intervals and it just kept going. I finally quit. Does it have a set number of questions? It would be great for the students to know how close they are to the end of the game.

My seven year old daughter has been enjoying Level 1 of this app for the last couple of days. She is currently studying RCMDP Level 4 Violin and has completed Dr. Mozart bks. 1 & 2 and Sound Advice bk.1. She has not done the Celebrate Theory workbooks yet, so I thought this app might be a good introduction to any new concepts (esp. Melody and Composition) to help her transition to the appropriate CT level. The app's graphics, concepts, layout, sound, presentation, and interactivity really hold my daughter's attention and interest in music theory. Thank you for making this app! With a few tweaks, I will definitely be recommending it to my other music students. My daughter appreciates that the app does not keep score (actually helps keep her interested & motivated to continue), but I'd like to know how she does with the concepts after working on her own. Also as a music teacher recommending this app to my students, being able to review a student's progress/work over the week is valuable. Please add this feature. In the "Pitch and Notation" tent, I have a couple of comments: 1)My daughter was eager to try the Egg Catch games, but they quickly frustrated her. Manipulating the nests into position was very challenging, both for speed and accuracy. I watched her get the nest into the proper position several times, only to see the note fall through. So, I tried it for myself (I'm a professional classically trained musician) and experienced the same incongruities. The problem seemed to only happened with line notes. 2) At the end of Accidentals section the last question only offers one answer choice and it's the wrong answer (the enharmonic of Gb is not A#). Unlike all the other tents I purchased in Level 1, "Terms & Signs" does not have an instructional section. The matching game would be fun, if players could test their memory of a prior explanation of the terms. Since this is a new app, I suspect that leaving off the instruction in this section is simply an oversight. I hope this gets corrected soon because presently, this separately purchased tent is not worth the $1.99 I paid for it. I am very hopeful that this app will boost quality music education for young people in a fun way. Please update very soon!
